Visually superior? Maybe. Plus, until they toss in their own version of temporal AA, they still get left in the gutter in that regard. Even 4x2 SS/MS can't come close to (effective) 16x SS.

Moultano, the FSAA tests. You know.. the part we've been discussing? Where nVidia's GF6 hasn't gotten over 40fps with their 4x2 '8x' mode turned on, and averages around 15-20fps?
The 10% X800 XT boost was in FSAA-off high-res tests. It was only about a 6-(-4)% lead against the GF6 UE in the same tests. In FSAA/AF-on tests, the X800 leaves the GF6 in the dust.
Of course, you'll have to look at the benchmarks that compare the closest visual quality levels to see the actual numbers. Unfortunately, the GF6 can't be tested with the new drivers for AF performance... as there's no way to actually turn off the 'optimizations'. Which still run slower than the ATi, but take control out of the user's hands by way of seeing the 'proper' rendered mode.

Sorry for the green but all this ATi v Nvidia bollocks is annoying. This thread should be about the drivers, their capabilities and released dates.
