Farcry Installing Trouble
<div class="IPBDescription">Nooooo!!!</div> Things never go without problems, so here is a new one.
Today I bought FarCry. Back home I put the 1st cd in the drive and the menu came up.
I chose install and proceeded. The installer stopped "working" (<i>it did not froze</i>) at the point where "Far Cry is configuring your new software installation".
Then after a minute or 2 it gives me a message wich says: "Error: - 1601 Could not access to the Windows Installer Service. The reason could be that you booted in safe mode, or haven't installed Windows Installer right. (translated from dutch)
Also, sometimes when I load the installer again it gives me either a 1601 or 1607 error.
It has something to do with Microsoft Installer. I looked at microsoft.com but found nothing.

Make sure the "windows installer" service is enabled.
So yeah, I'm going to try it one more time and then I'll mail them.
but i had the same prob... i did the services thing... and it fixed mine..
I just tried it on my sisters computer, no problems. So it must be my pc.
Hope that helps.

Type msiexec /unregister and press Enter.
Type msiexec /regserver and press Enter.
Make sure your virus definitions are all up to date, perhaps there is a newer one. Or try ad-aware/ spybot. Make sure any other programs you have running that could change windows stuff are stopped (Windowblinds/object desktop/ etc).
And of course, reformating solves everything.
Whoops, indeed I did miss that little diddy.
