<div class="IPBDescription">Vent/Map strats</div> Another post someone mentioned vents when it came to Motion Tracking, but lets face it, when it comes to map design, aliens are the beneficiary of the vent system.
Granted Jetpacks also take advantage of it, but jetpacks require res, and are late game upgrades(plus how frustrating is it when your in a jetpack trying to get into that one tiny vent over and over...), while any ole' skulk can crawl into the vents.
SO with that said, anyone have any memorable places on certain maps where they love to ambush from a vent or strats relating to vents that they care to share?
One favorite of mine is NS_Nothing (I believe that's the one) where there is a vent structure directly into the marine base (the one with the digital screen that acts like a two way mirror). Most coms forget to weld it on the other side, so I just hippity hop in there and parasite three or four marines at the beginning of the game and then scoot out of there. Keep repeating till I have half the team parasited (usually with the first two minutes of the game). Usually distracts a few marines into actually following me into the vent (frustrating the com) or forces them to put a turret directly in front of it (waste of res).
Plus, what alien doesn't like having have the marine team parasited in the very beginning of the game?

Beware of grenades and grenade launchers tho.
Vents are fantastic if you can get the drop on the marines - blinking fades flying out of a vent will scatter most marine teams very quickly.
As I see it, you can either use them to set ambushes, where you plan to attack en masse from a lone vent.......... or you can use them to STALL the marines - chuckle a few times, para some doors to open and close, and suddenly one skulk becomes three, the marines are shooting blindly, and you've tied up a small squad.
Once the marines are on to your game and ignore you though...... thats when you spring the trap, hehe.
it has such a vent system then I played it in 1.04, and again now, and i still do not 100% know it.
If you can not escape from JP in hera, you deserve to die
NS_Bast has a load of vents near engine/marine start.
