When you're dealing with kids' lives, you can't be too careful. If you choose to excersize rights you don't actually have (read the other posts on how underagers don't really HAVE freedom of speech. And certainly not in school), then you should accept the consequences of your actions.
Hey, say the kid was in fact a terrorist? now I feel much better to actually hear that the secret service and govt are TAKING action on the homefront of the War on Terror. No arrest was made as you prob read, The media displays this as ridiculous and stupidity on the US government, but nowdays with terrorism you can't trust anybody. They are brainwashed out there as young children, they are willing to die to cause chaos and havok. Even a teen caucasian child could be up to something. Im glad to see the government on top of things inside our homeland..... Say what you want but think if he really was a terrorist and planning a attack which become sucessful. Wouldnt you become angry because the "Govt isnt doing thier job"?

Oh thank goodness, someone else who thinks that we are overreacting. I mean honestly, nothing came of it, so that means there has been no breach of ettiquette so to speak. True the Secret Service did overreact, but as long as this kid isn't penalized for it, then there is nothing to be afraid of.

He was punished by the School.
For drawing a picture. For expressing himself. I'm not sure how true the rumors of him being tossed out of his AP Government course because of it are, but... I think I'd be a good deal **** if they made me drop an AP course of mine that I'd worked extra hard in all year, just because of me expressing myself.
Even more whacked is the teacher who thought it was necessary to call the cops over this crap. I mean come on, you really think the cops need to get involved over a picture? Maybe if the picture was a detailed map of the school with labelled spots to set off bombs or something like that, but jeez, it was just a picture of George Bush. The kid obviously doesn't like him, but does that mean he's going to go stick GW's head on a stick for real?
Maybe comparing Bush to Hitler is overreacting, but the secret service??
I think one is more of an overreaction than the other one is.

Or at least skim things... If the thread is within any reasonable length (about 5-6 pages is my limit) i'll read it over and get up to speed.
One girl got sent to Juvy-Hall for writing "Blood Will Rain" in lipstick in the bathroom. So, this doesn't surprise me in the least.
When you're dealing with kids' lives, you can't be too careful. If you choose to excersize rights you don't actually have (read the other posts on how underagers don't really HAVE freedom of speech. And certainly not in school), then you should accept the consequences of your actions.

First of all, I always make it a point to read the entire topic if it is under 5 pages and the posts aren't heavily detailed. It helps if I have been following it since it's inception...

Okay, the idea of calling the secret service is too much. I already agreed with that. But the rumour of the kid being kicked out of his AP Gov class is just that, a rumour. The only punishment he got was a talking to by some G-Men. Honestly, we don't even know what they said to him.

You look in the paper at all? Ever see any of the more violent political comics? Yeah. This was HALF of those.
Comon Rob, a head on a stick? Thats nothing more than just symbolism of what the world and America is doing right now.
i'll just note that it's a federal crime to threaten the president's life.

You're still missing the point, here, fella.
Political Comic Writers DO have freedom of speech. And they aren't doing this at a school.
*Edit* Not to mention we haven't actually seen this picture. What if it's dripping with blood, brains, and has a spinal cord hangin out? That would be grounds for a good talking, a suspension, whatever no matter who's head it was at my school. You just can't do that kind of stuff at school these days */Edit*

america is putting bushes head on a spike?
A) They don't go in. He's crazy and shoots up a school. People complain about how there were 'obvious warning signs' and generaly get mad
B) They go in. People complain about them over reacting and treating the problem far too seriously.

No, but a lot of people(read:democrats) are trying to crucify him(not that I don't totally agree. I think he's got the brainpower of some granite).
Rob: Yeah, I agree there, if it is. But it doesn't sound like that.
And if thats the case, why do we read "Lord of the Flies" in school? Pushing a pig's head on a stick? Worshipping the pig? Killing kids? Gotta love the double standard.
Lets not get into "Lord of The Flies" symbolism here...

Well, I don't wanna be the one to "skewer the pig in an inappropriate manner", but you're just gonna have to learn to paint your face and chant along with the others if you don't wanna be left out, it's a cruel philosophy, but without any outside force it is inevitible that we all fall to the tribal side of life, either by pain of exclusion or by fear of it.
Of course, false idols will be our downfall, because, while a lusty venture into a meaty substance may be fun for a little while, it has no lasting effect or buildup to a higher place of salvation.
You're just gonna have to grow up and realize that reciting your name and address isn't gonna keep the sand from getting thrown in your face and learn to live with the smell of dead hippo meat, or, to metaphoricalize, that I love my Lord of the Flies references
