my crowning moment in fallout 1 was killing the master with one blast of my gatling laser, doing some obscene amount of damage I didn't know was possible... like 1200 or something, I forget what typical fallout damage numbers are like... but I assume every one of the burst laser shots hit critical... :>

<b>Possible spoilers - I'm looking for someone who might be nice enough to lend me their save file with the following details:</b>
I just finished the game AGAIN, specifically to see the good ending for the cities I visited, but apparently "Aradesh greaves for her slain daughter" simply because I used her for an NPC and didn't return her. So just before I visited the Master, I traveled all the way back to Shady Sands, dropped her off, went all the way back to the Cathedral, and finished the game, ONLY TO FIND THAT SHADY SANDS WAS NOW OBLITERATED.
Can anyone upload their save file that has a good ending for the communities? I screwed up on the Hub, Adytum, and Shady Sands, and I don't have the time or patience to go through it again.
It's so much fun when you combat mutants, 4 goes into close combat in a line and the leader pulls up a minigun shooting at you when you see that the melee mutants are getting riped to pices cause they "shielded" you. Also when the tBoS have gang fights with raiders its much yoy to see 20 raiders vs 6 BoF members when the BoF members have power armor and superior weapoons making a massacre with the raiders.
And the conversation with the mutant that takes you to the factory...
I've never even seen SS's of fallout...or have the faintest idea of what it's about. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->

One of the most frustrating fights ever.
I just came back from the Glow quest, so I'm heading over to BoS base, then I get caught up with that BoS vs Raider fight. I'm think, "it's cool, I'm working with the BoS now, I'll take care of these pesky raiders."
So I start melting them away with my turbo pulse rifle, noticing that the paladins are doing nothing to help me. Then as I'm down to finishing the last few raiders, a paladin rips open a chaingun and blasts apart a raider from far away, and in the process, dicing Katja.
"Okay, just a misunderstanding. I'll just reload."
After a few tries, it soon dawns on me that they were letting me waste my time on the raiders, before killing me and all my NPCs.
I. Was. ****.
I reload and start attacking the BoS this time around. Surprise, surprise, the ***** raiders chicken off and leave me to fight them alone this time around. The worst thing was being cushioned between the two sides. Even if I somehow managed to survive, the same couldn't possibly be said for my NPCs. Nevertheless, I was **** off enough to ensure that I killed all the paladins before continuing, and after numerous tries, I did.
As logic would dictate, that also meant that the BoS no longer cared that I did their Glow quest and wanted my head.
My compatibility is set to Windows 95. Aside from an occasional crash/freeze when using the science skill (which seems to have resolved itself with Fallout 2...but still happens in FO1) the game works flawlessly. It's an old game I don't think it would work beyond Windows 98...95 works best for me though.
I don't think there's an option to buy the DOS based version anymore, but the interplay site sells the Windows compatible version...so just get that.

To make a long story short, the 3rd world war hit earth a few years from now. Almost all life was wiped out. A few people managed to escape the nuclear holocaust by going into 'vaults' - massive underground structues that were totally self-contained. You were born in one of these vaults, and have never seen the world outside. Then something goes wrong.
In FO1, your vault constantly recycles it's water, so that none has to be brought in from the outside world. Now, the chip that controlls this water purification has died. You need to go find a replacement. And this starts you on one of the greatest RPGs of all time...
