PC Gamer, but sadly he's gone on to comic book pastures and so only writes for them as freelance. Still, he does one or two reviews per mag, and he's as excellent as ever.

And yes, I do remember fondly reading about Resident Evil 2 in CVG, it was pretty damn good back then, and it's a joke now.

Well, this could answer a few questions.

1.) Was the AI really scripted at E3?

2.) How will an official Valve version of HL2 run on a top-of-the-line system?

3.) Were the physics really that good, or were they also scripted?

4.) Will some of the flaws at the E3 display be fixed? (HL blood "spurts" and windows all breaking in the same way)

Hopefully lots of light can be shed on these questions.

Well, i think i can answer a few.

    1) I believe yes. Admittedly this is from websites about the leak, but they gave pretty good evidence to suggest they were. But that's all i'll say about that.

    2) It will run well.

    3) Yes, they're really that good.

    4) *shrugs*

And finally, Otto, they were joking. PC Zone is pretty well known for being a funny computer magazine. Very obviously they're not leaking information. It's a joke.

Says the same thing in PC Gamer in the 10 year anniversary edition.

I don't really care, it's the game I want, not more movies.

The principle of... making a joke? An obvious one, at that?

Oh, and Edit: HL2 uses the Havok physics engine, the same one used in Max Payne 2 and Painkiller. The physics are definitely legit.

They use the havok engine, but they could indeed put it to better use that max payne 2 where it was just used for making things look cool when they break.

A spanish magazine also went to the Valve offices to play the thing, and they said Gabe Newell himself said it was going to be released in June...

No. People won't be posting full page scans on here. It's against the forum rules since the content / images in the magazines are copyright. This is so you do actually have to buy the magazine.

If anyone thinks i'm lying, remember back to the last massive wave of HL2 info, with all the scans getting nuked?

Also keep in mind that the news stand date is the 29th, so subscribers of said magazines (I think there are still a dozen or so of those) will be getting their copies any day now, and I'm sure that just like this time almost exactly one year ago there will be people spilling the beans on any new info found within...

I bought CS:CZ for something to play whilst at home from university and that came with a HL2 preview CD, with all the previously released footage videos in high quality. After seeing that the only bit of HL2 info I want now is when I can buy it - anything else might spoil some of the great surprises which havn't been yet shown (and I will surely bet there are many). Vivé la Valve!

I got tired of PC Gamer since it stopped being a "funny". "interesting" magazine and became a Preview/Review website in print form.

I've been getting pretty tired of it too... they endlessly hype games that turn out to be crap, and I can get much more timely and informative news/reviews online. Not to mention their constant, shameless self-advertising. I mean, the magazine is all right, but having to wait upwards of 2 months sometimes just to see a review for a game that hasn't been hyped to death is kinda pointless.

Also, I find the demo CDs useless as I can get everything they release generally a month to two months beforehand online. Not to mention that only one or two games max can fit on one CD, which isn't really their fault but it's another reason to give it up. If they switched to DVDs I might stick with it.

If games mags would ditch the news, reviews, chips and teats, I'd start buying them again. I get Edge every so often, but after reading the four editorials, it's mostly standard fare. Give me more! Stop listing facts about the game! I want a totally biased opinion of the item in question, not a list of its credentials! You! Reviewer! You like the Shenmue? Don't just tell us about its wicked graphics or hundreds of areas. We want passion! Shove the game down our idiot throats! Make us understand your unique experience with the game, not the merits listed on the back of the box. Case in point - this brilliant article by Always Black (strong language). Believe me, I'd have never wanted a Star Wars game before reading that.

    And Gillen is aces!

I'm sure that was sarcasm, or a joke of some form.

C&VG & PC Zone, while they are **** who make you register on their site for crap, are pretty well respected mags, not the type that do stuff like break NDAs (*cough* GameStar *cough*)

German gaming mag notorious for sneaking in hidden cameras to private events to get video footage of games they shouldn't be getting footage of.

They were one ones who leaked the very first DOOM 3 video for example.
