its taking a lot longer than the others. don't worry, the top opens up to be like a completely deployed siege tank, it was just easier to screeny this. update:

at 1100 polys, it is pretty up there. i was shooting for around 800 (the original is around 600), but got carried away. i'm sure i could get it down, but i like the way this looks (and removing any polys would change the look of the model).

P.S. and no i haven't started on the kharaa -> zerg conversion. it looks now like that wont happen since i'm leaving tuesday and these structures aren't finished yet. i'll see what i can do though.

Heh, I have brought the tower down a bit, but in general these models are slightly skewed from their Starcraft counterparts because of the NS requirements. it is an unfortunate side-effect, but a necessary one.

I think its all done... for some reason its hard to find a server where siege are being used or are even on the map. I never thought of it before, but most of the time siege turrets are deployed for a limited amount of time, then recycled, then built again if need be.. kinda wierd. Anyway, thanks for posting those screen shots CaptainPanaka, I hadn't thought of doing that. I'll post a new render of the siege tank tommorrow (in its full siege-form) so you all get to see it : ).
P.S. if i never make an animation again, it'll be too soon.
: ), thanks panaka and vinny. yeah, the deploy animation took a little while, but thats mostly because of glitches in milkshape. the fire animation is just a "copy" of the regular siege so it isn't anything special. the only problem with it is that the sprite that is used for its firing looks really dinky coming out of such a huge barrel, anyone here a sprite artist that can fix that?

thanks to you too zaggy. its not as wierd as you might think, i'd like them to be a lot bigger, but you just get used to it.
unfortunately it isn't boned properly or animated (like the other res tower), which is how everything will have to be from now till i leave tuesday. it also doesn't match the kharaa res tower's limits.. but it really can't. despite all that, this is probably my favorite model so far. the tf is a close second, but this just turned out pretty damn good i think. you may notice that this is a crappy render, thats because it doesn't do the model justice to see it without smooth groups, and i haven't figured those out yet. hope you all like this.

nice, one quick suggestion though, the little pit thingy whatchamacallit that the gas comes out of, it seems real shallow. i tried just pulling the vertex in the middle straight down some, and it really adds to the effect and makes it look better.

im not saying pull it down level with the ground, just a little bit more. i know depth can be easy to fake with textures, but you dont want to rely on textures too much, especially if your not the one doing them.

And now I sign off, I'm shipping off to join the army tomorrow morning. This will be my last post for most likely 3 months and possibly 4 years or more. Best of luck to everyone here and I hope that Natural Selection becomes a better game because of your hard work.
All of these models will stay as they are now unless others complete them. All need skins, but some also need animations finished or made from scratch. I beg anyone who skins or animates - even slightly - to finish these models and to make a comprehensive pack for NS. Big Bull has said that he wants exclusive distribution rights and is promising a gift upon completion. I don't know what that gift would be, but I would imagine that it wouldn't be spread out to many people. I personally wont be here for it to matter, so thats one less person to spread it around to, and I'll leave all rights of these models with whoever completes their skins\animations\completes the pack.
