if u wanna pwn da rines, try to 'steal exp' from teamates til u grow lvl. then get focus. so u jump up and bite a head off and runlikehellallthewaybacktothehivetoheal and then go back.....can use strategy 4 onos too......like, digest and run.....anyway when ur lvl3 get celerity to runlikehellfaster, OK? <!--emo&::siege::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/siege.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='siege.gif' /><!--endemo-->

do NOT use focus to train... it is much better to be able to place all your normal bites while maneuvering.

If you train in this regard then when you finally apply focus to become a super skulk you'll find yourself MUCH more effective after learning the slower timings. The amount of damage really has little to do with it... its all maneuverability. If you can move erraticly (as to throw off tracking abilities) and maintain control of where you're going and know where your target is then the kill is almost guaranteed.

Also never underestimate the power of circle strafing. Once in close range, moving in erratic movements actually leads to more deaths. Simply put, the general reaction times will keep the bullets streaming somewhat behind you unless they have well developed twitch responses (unconscious accuracy). If you decide to change direction during your cirlce strafe it is likely that you will cross paths with their fire (or take a full blast of shotgun if thats the weapon in use). Keep in mind though that you have to be fairly close range to apply this. Too far out and they'll be able to pick off a semi-linearly moving target even if jumping around.

Slience is generally your friend more often than cloaking as a skulk (for some instances it may even be better than having that extra speed Celerity gives you). Especially when using silence, the key is not to be seen... if they see you it won't matter that they can't hear you. To this end, keep the layout of the level in mind at all times and if you hear an entourage coming, try to get behind them using the vent systems (damn i wish there was more connectivity in most maps. Don't lay in wait for an ambush... that's for cloakers mainly (many players actually check corners religiously and if they have backup then you're assured death). Coming from behind while silenced can actually finish all of them off more often then not in my experience. There's simply too long of a delay in their mind to consider that a guy from behind has fallen and say, "Hmm... I wonder if I should turn and check that out or keep my eyes forward where I'm sure there's an ambush waiting"

Also I'd mention that I've never used bunny hopping (as it is meant to be done... i do still hop around a lot) and I still usually lead servers on combat maps as a super skulk... so it isn't necessary for success, but is still a beneficial tool should you learn to implement it as opposed to more tactical training.

Develop twitch skills (I cant think of a better way to practice this than Quake 3 on Q3DM17 using Nightmare bots... practice using the shotgun and rail gun only). When moving quickly around levels as a skulk (or fade and lerk for that matter) it is very beneficial if you can "twitch" your aim for a dead on strike and return to your original course of movement without slowing down. You'd practice your horizontal twitch with all three and your vertical with the skulk and lerk (biting heads as you fly/leap over them).

In the end however it all boils down to how much you practice with the skulk (along with the effectiveness of your practice i suppose) or any other class for that matter. The more intimately knowledgable you are in their abilities the more likely you'll be able to use them well.

Learn how to bunny hop, and don't spam the attack button while biting, this tends to lead to confusion and get you killed. Only bite someone if you're sure of hitting them.

Bunny hoping works well in increasing speed and, if you're good at it, avoiding damage while you're flying through the air, it isn't easy though and takes a lot of practice. Take a look at the bhop thread about it.
