New Phone Rocks On.
About a week ago my mum brought home a new phone for herself, I played with it for about 5min and just went "I'm buying one"
A few days later I walk into a store, buy the phone outright and I am in love.
My new phone is a Sharp GX-20
It's such a joy to use.
Digital Camera
Digital Video
Games
Mobile Internet
240x320 colour screen (Which is huge for a phone)
Polyphonic ringtones.
The works.
It's great, it also uses Vodafone's Live network. Hell it's got a button on the phone to connect to it. I can download games, ringtones, read the news, check out movie times.
Some of the games I've already downloaded are:
Worms
Castlevania
Prince of Persia
Gradius
Too bad it doesn't have any FPS... oh well. I forgive it.
Sorry. Just felt I had to share. The phone is awesome.

Was there ever a time when people actually used phones to, ya' know, talk to people?
Now I want that phone!

Heh, I know what you mean. I'm not a big fan of "combo" electronics. If I want to take a picture, I'll use a camera. If I want to play a portable game, I'll use a game player (like the GameBoy). If I want to listen to music, I'll use a MP3/CD player. If I want to talk to people, I'll use a phone. Too often these days, people seem to get caught up in the combo toys, and never seem to notice that the product dissappoints in almost every department. Sure, there are exceptions, but they're rare.
I laugh at the commercials that rationalize the price of a digital camera phone with comments like "When you really need a camera, and you don't have one handy, use our phone to take a picture!" Supposedly, all the good shots pass one by when one doesn't have a camera. I'd like to know how the low resolution, grainy, pixelated little thumbnail excuse of a picture these camera phones generate are going to help me out in getting that ever elusive "super" photo. Somehow, after looking at the quality of the picture, and then at the cellular bill, one ponders the point of it all.
But even if this phone did all the above admirably, the fact remains these things are pricey. Waaaay too expensive to make them worthwhile, at least for me. I can twiddle my thumbs for free...
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Even though I'm happy with my Nokia 3300.
So it's a $700 (Aus) phone.

Yes, but to talk to people, your phone has to be the size of a shoebox.
Can you BlueTooth them to other phones or BlueTooth adaptors?
I took this with my NOKIA 3650 and the images look pretty good
for 640*480 pixels.

(My pc area, bout 3/4 weeks old)
I also resize some pics to 640*480 and then send them to my phone
for use as a background image.

Well I had $500 I choose to repay over a 24 month period ($21 bucks a month roughly), and I paid the other $200 upfront.

Wow. Those pictures are not acceptable.
I could get a better and higher quality assortment of products than what you have in your hand now, for the same price... probably less. Obviously my feelings toward "combo" electronics are still well grounded.
You chose... poorly.
in japan, pimps use camera phones to take pictures of potential clients. the girls check out the client to see if they like his face before they actually hook up with him.
bite me.
with $500 I can build a computer (though I don't need a 3rd comp atm so I could upgrade one of my comps)
