Halo may have the best combat, but HL is a close second, and HL's truly awesome level design runs circles around Halo's horrible excuse for it, which puts HL above Halo.

Just change the fire mode and take time to aim while lurking in the bushes.

I was sold on Far Cry when I was in a dense forest and opened fire on one soldier. All of his buddies started laying blind cover fire down across the forest and I tried to sneak around to another position. But, the squad sent out two people to flank me from the sides and I got pwned.

haze, not to be mean but while I agree interactivity is always good there's nothing amazingly new here. The ropes? The level designer didn't have to put those there. They could've put non-rope bridges and stuff but instead they gave a rope bridge that the bad guys would most very likely need to cross. You can do that in Half-Life for heck's sake, it just won't look as good because it lacks the uberphysics =P

Sorry but most of what farcry offers are things I expect from new games. They're just 'standard' details in the catalogue of 'next gen' games. Ok so it's a little earlier than some of the big boys but I still don't feel myself being all that awed by it.

Oh and I was totally unsold when I shot the gunner off a boat and the driver just drove about in circles cluelessly... I was shockingly unimpressed when a group of soldiers opened fire on a rock I was behind; approximately just under a mile behind ><
And nothing says stealth like walking up to an AI after sneaking about only for it to look at you blankly before running away with it's gun like a headless chicken when you're only armed with stones and a knife

Ok so landing the jeep in a tree was funny... but I just can't muster more than apathy for this game; especially because I haven't seen any dragons/aliens/cool things. I've never been much for 'real' games =3

The 'omg random firecones I can change the size of based on lying down or aiming or stuff' thing bugs me too. I thought we were past this? Why not do it like haze said; DoD style where you shoot where you aim but your crosshair isn't static... heck the troopers mod for UT2kx has that system and it's cool. I might only have a 1 in 20 chance of hitting something because my crosshair is wiggling all over the place like a gnat on crack but at least I can input a little timing skill into it rather than just hope the gods of chance like me today =/
