All them's what had problems with Steam locking up: you should've stopped the pre-loading like I did. Neener neener neener.
PS: Also, people that complain about being advertised at for CZ shouldn't. You got all the stuff in Steam free when you bought HL five years ago. They didn't have to do that.

I'm quite certain that is a quite different CZ though(the one with the missions?).
Steam has more or less finished the "beta" stage of production. If they expect people to pay money to buy things off steam, it's no "beta". Therefore, I expect a little more support from them. That includes:
1) Testing patches.
Just like Flay has done with a couple of the latest patches, we found a few bugs that were fixed within the hour. I expect them to test it pretty thoroughly, especially after the history of the patches scewing up.
2) Rollback:
If they can't fix major problems like crashes whenever you exit, they should at least roll back patches and fix the problems.
3) Support:
For one thing, this would mean all these helpers admitting that the problems aren't with my computer/dog/parents/monitor, but steam. Then they should actually try to fix peoples problems. Phrases like "u cud do bettar?" or "ur getting it 4 free" don't help. It's not my job to do better, and they're getting paid for it.
4) Actual improvements:
The patches have basically been bug fixes, and then bug fixes caused by the previous bug fixes. I haven't seen that much actual game and steam imrpovement so far, and things that they should have done a long time ago don't count ( fixing favorites, for example).
I get the same problem also, I try to quit and Steam will freeze up, along with locking me into a VERY annoying sound loop. This same problem also happens in game too, but mainly on the new 3.0 maps that are laggy.
The worst part of all of this is that power/reset button is broken (don't even get me started on that...) and I have to wrench the damn power cable out to restart. All of this right after I was starting to feel good about Steam. I can download a NS map in 20 seconds over Steam while it would've taken, at the very least, 10 minutes over WON. I'm sure Valve will have the problem fixed up soon... I hope. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

let me get this straight
when u run steam, it will update (I havnt used steam in a week or more, been out of town)
as its updating. it will install counterstrike? (is it is condition zero?) or both?
And its locked? So when u install it you cant uninstall it?
