Honestly I think that, if you do switch skies, you should switch it to another bright outdoor sky. Granted that changes it from a space station to a land-based-outpost, but right now the sky makes the map strikingly different. Also that keeps it from resembling eclipse/veil.... a problem that seems to plague many wall_lab based maps. I guess I don't have anything else to say other than keep up the good work.

And get better hosting man, 60kb images taking over 4 minutes to load...
reminds me of eclips and vail
The only thing I miss in ns-maps it that the place is always so empty, like no one has ever been there before. I mean, where´s the tipped over tables, half-empty cups of coffee and so forth. I know that gore is not allowed to be in the maps, but signs of a life before the place was deserted must be allowed.

But the Hive Pictures, and the cargo lift are just superb.
The corridors have been constructed well, and this map, just seems to flow, from the pics Ive seen.
Althought the textures do look a tad bland, I think the glass beams etc will affect the map greatly, when a new skybox is put in.

Btw: darkflame, your sig is too big, 400 x 75 max.
I still think you should stay with the planet-like blue sky though....that pwns. Maybe it would work better with a nightime sky, i'm sure there's one in the custom skymaps thread.

Yeah, it may be good intentionaly applying certian styles and themes from eclipse etc, but your setting yourself quite a challenge, in making your map better than them, which is a task, as they are official, and very good.
So what are your motives for adopting this texture choice etc?, beacuse in some parts it does look a tad boring, and if compared to eclipse etc, a shade worse.
This is not grief to your map, Im just pointing out, that sharing the same look, may be a negative towards your map.
It might be tough competition.

PB, looks really great. If it is intentional that you went with the Eclipse/Veil stuff, I'm honored to have been at least partial inspiration, and it looks like you did some great work with your own touch to it. Frankly, the wall_lab texture set is the most well-developed set of textures we have. yellgrey takes some steps in the right direction, but its constituent pieces don't come close to working as well together as wall_lab's textures do.

Sorry, two trains of thought in one sentance. I meant to say that the suggested skymap changes will make it a land based outpost, and that setting it in a daytime map will make it different from eclipse/veil.

If you ask me, that layout give the aliens an advantage at the very start of the game. The marines have a long trek to their nearest res, but the faster aliens have to go far less for theirs.
