Looking for Soul Calibur.
Well, with my job at Gamestop, we finally got a used Dreamcast coming in... 2 days after the cut-off date for trading in DC equipment... however, I made my claim anyway and will be getting it tomorrow.

My reason for getting an old console is simple. The original Soul Calibur. But unfortunately, the collection of games included with this one does not include said game. I'm looking online, but I thought I might see here if anyone has a copy they'd be willing to sell for cheap or even possibly donate.

My friends and I are just looking for some nostalgia for our massive SC marathons from a few years ago, so we'd love your help.

[EDIT:] I've found some new and used ones online, but the new ones so far are ridiculously expensive. Used seems to be no lower than 16, but if anyone has a copy they'd be willing to give up for less, let me know. I'm already **** off my fiancee by using this money on a console instead of her engagement ring (which she gets in 2 days anyway ), so cheap or free = good

I predict that you're nott gonna get mny people taking up your offer here. Asking someone give up Soul Calibur is like asking someone to give up......something that's really friggin awesome!

All I can say is... SC over engagement ring.... tsk tsk tsk... I never really was into the DreamCast... because I loved Nintendo more.

Yeah, probably. There are a few nuts online who are giving it up, though, so you never know. Worth a shot.

Well, it's on layaway and I'm picking it up tomorrow and giving it to her Friday. But she doesn't know that, so she still of course freaks out whenever I spend money hehe.

I wasn't a huge DC fan myself, either, but the many hours spent playing Soul Calibur on it.... mmmm... Good times.

All right, you have been forgiven. I thought it was DreamCast purchase INSTEAD of engagement ring. So nevermind my silly mind.

Hee hee, still got my copy of Soul Calibur. You can't have it, but you can watch me play it with glee. Go Seung Mina!

Let's be honest, if you want the game that badly, then just buy one of those expensive copies you've seen and enjoy it. Like paying £45 for a Sam & Max comic - may seem nuts to some, but if you enjoy it, so what?

Nevermind all that anyway - if you've got a Dreamcast, why aren't you hunting down Shenmue? Best adventure ever.

I don't understand. As far as I can remember, Soul Calibur 2 is so close to Soul Calibur 1 that it would be silly to pay the extra cash for an extinct (but marvellous) console, unless you don't have a PS2, GameCube or Xbox.

Still, if you must proceed, get Powerstone 1 or 2 as well; they make excellent multiplayer games.

Actually, Tequila, I have a Gamecube and Soul Calibur II as well. But I'm a crazy game person and want the original anyway, as do my friends. I actually just found a decent one on Ebay for a decent price from a decent rated seller, so I tossed in a bid for that. We'll see what happens. Lasts for another day, but I still may not win, of course

2 is similar, but definitely not the same as Soul Calibur 1. For once, they took out Siegfried, who was always my favorite. ): Nightmare just isn't the same, especially since they further reduced his already-less-than-Siegfried's moveset (though he did get a few new, fun ones).

    My favorites from SC:
Siegfried for the 10-second sorry-did-you-want-to-play-again? win
    Cervantes for the oh-where-did-half-your-life-bar-go? win
Astaroth for the slow, painful, oops-was-that-your-spine? win

I don't own SC2, so I haven't had a chance to really find my character of choice. Nightmare's pretty similar to his SC incarnation, but I was always disappointed that he lacked a few key moves of Siegfried's (and he's lost even more in SC2 - it makes him less overwhelmingly dangerous, I suppose, but therefore less effective). Cervantes is also similar, but a few of his key moves (especially his ground-strike staggering move) have been utterly nerfed, and his timing has changed significantly. I have been having a lot of fun with Link, though. (:

    Yes, Seigfried was the man.

The best way to win though was always the Maxi I-Didn't-Even-Know-What-The-Hell-I-Was-Doing-But-You're-Stil-Dead.

You can replace "Maxi" with "Kilik" and it still rings true.

    ...Sophitia or Lizardman (...same moveset).

    B+Y > X > Y = Flying opponent - who you can slash on the way down.

...then it's just some backwards flips and some slashes, and maybe a gaia kick to their doom. Never lost with either. Of course, you could be Maxi and just press 3 buttons and fling around your 'chuks for a while...but your opponent can pretty much just go around your side.

Cervantes is the only opponent my friends have come close to beating me with (if I'm Sophitia, Lizardman is slightly slower, so he's a bit harder, think I've lost once or twice with him).

Of course, in survival, I've got Siegfried (or maybe Nightmare) on top with 60 kills, and Sophitia with 49.

...or maybe it was 75 and 59....bah, can't remember, haven't played it in awhile.

(it's at home, and I'm not)

    ....so....err.....no...you can't have my SC .

Ivy telegraphs every move about 5 mins before she actually connects with it. My brother played her for a while, till he couldn't touch me with her because I read every move he made.

Dreamcast was a pretty sweet system, I know a couple people that are hardcore into Powerstone 2. Theres a lot of stuff in that game (weapons/powerups) lots of subtleties. I think they downloaded the vmu file to unlock everything seeing as I hear its next to impossible to do so yourself. Great 4 player party game.

Dreamcasts need to be treated very very well.

That said, I have a Spectrum 128k +2 that still works, an Atari Jaguar that still works, and a fully functional Dreamcast with *rubrub* Soul Calibur.

I don't see myself parting with any, and they all work perfectly. GL with yours!

Well then your brother isn't using her right...

I love SC and SC2, too bad I would kill before give them up.

Anyhow, yeah, Coil, I went to a website where it talked about top competitions worldwide for SC2, and Ivy is a "top teir" charecter for sure it says.

My favorite charecter is Rapheal. While he isn't a "top teir" charecter, he is on the other hand... just perfect for my playstyle. Class, Elegance, and Rapheal can beat anyone if you can predict correctly of their next move.

I played the geeks at my school at SC2, and none of them could come close to beating me... and they call themselves video game geeks, sad.

My brother is very good at SC2, man we have probably sunk 100+ hours into that game just playing each other.

It is indeed good times. Soul Caliber for t3h w1n.
