err ah, hmmm. Monse jumped to mind when useless came up <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

But really, I heard this one long ago. Think it was an excuse.

Once it's used, it is useless and teachers often reject it (not from experience!) and you aren't believed, so you aren't protected. Or something along those lines.

    Next up:
I pass before the sun, yet make no shadow. What am I?

Everything Mr Red owns is red, he lives in a red bungalow and his chairs are red, his tables are red. His ceiling, walls and floor are all red. All of his clothes are red, his shoes are red, even his carpet, television and phone are red. What colour are his stairs?

For the sake of the riddle, probably not. But I've been in a bungalow that <i>did</i>.

This so sounds like a trick question, but I can't see what could be amiss other than this.

This is a real life riddle, as it actually happened to someone before.

A man left his house at the same time every day. He was single. He would leave at 8 AM and come home at 6 PM, and every day his television would be on. His TV would be on the same channel he last left it at before turning it off. He never left it on before leaving for work. He had an anti-theft system wired into his house, and he confirmed that no one ever entered or left his house after he left for work.
His made sure his remote was hidden and there weren't any windows around his television from the side, except for one window in the ceiling.

He confirmed from his cable company that his TV turned on about the same time every day without fail.

His layout of his living room was his TV against the wall, a couch opposite from it, and one coffee table in front of the couch.

Finally, after being unable to find out what was going on the man stayed home for a day and learned how the TV turned on. What did he see?

i've been in a bungalo that had stairs. It was built on the side of a hill, so some parts ot it were slightly lower than others, so it had a set of stairs to get down (2 steps)

[Edit: Forlorn: can you describe the coffee table, and was the couch against a wall? Also, what time did the TV turn on?]
