Guh... I thought you meant the NS Manual for a minute... shucks...
Cool, anyways. I'll go get help if I need it, though I probably won't... I... hm... well, I won't be part of that Guide team, but if anybody asks me questions, I'll answer.

Also remember everyone there is a training map in the works. I pity the fool that says NS isn't beginner friendly. It may still have rather steep learning curve but unlike most of the time, you've got a ski lift to go up it. I look forward to helping out everyone!

I was kinda curious about the locking oh his thread.. guess that explains it.
Yea i thought it was the guide/manual too made me excited, then i realised you dont recruit manuals..
My opinion:
I think its a great idea, dont think many mods have this, problem may be once there are 1000s of servers you might have a problem getting around and helping all the 'noobs'. However, I do think it is a good idea for the begining, well see what happens though as NS expands.

I'd be glad to teach some 'cruits. I mean after all, how hard can it be to show 5 CS players how to work together?
In all seriousness... Once I have a good handle on the gameply I wouldn't mind helping out at all. I'm noobie-friendly!
For the record, I read every manual for every game I buy and for every mod I download, not to mention the readme's for every kinda file I get. I can't see why people wouldn't. <!--emo&???--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'><!--endemo-->
its more of a personal preference. I don't read the entire manual, just the interesting parts (weapon names, wpn models, wpn backgrounds, stories, etc.)
Manuals are boring! I just read the useful stuff (like the bugs and intro) Cant wait till this game comes out. Guides will be very useful. Except the guides may laugh alot (example: how do I open a door?). But theyll be very useful.....

New Guides are picked by the current Guides, and are carefully screened/tested. Suffice to say, you need *extensive* knowledge of the game in order to be an effective Guide, so we're only including Playtesters for the time being. After release, the Guide program will definitely expand to include others in the community.
We will probably start looking into contacting more people to become guides sometime in the first month after NS is released.
We are starting with playtesters only, since we know the game inside and out. We will certainly expand in the future after the release, and I personally want to create a sizeable group of guides. At the same time I want to make sure we get good positive and dedicated people, so screening is necessary and that takes time.
I know a lot of you have read every stitch of info on NS that there is to read and know everything there is to know on paper, but having that in-game experience is priceless when explaining how NS works to someone new.

a good idea would be to take guides from other places where there isnt as much for example me from finland (not neccesarily me <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->) cause i doubt ppl in usa will be awake at 5am wanting 2 help some finnish noobs learn 2 command <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->
It's certainly a valid point, there should be people from all different areas of the world that participate in the guide program. Right now we have a few people from the UK on the beta tester team, so they will represent NS guides from that timezone.
My stance still remains the same though, and individuals will not be added to the program just because they live in a certain area. As the entire team has generally agreed to, the reward for being a guide is mostly intrinsic and we are leaning more towards creating a team of positive and dedicated individuals rather than promote guide team geographical diversity. That said, I honestly don't think we will have too much of a problem finding people from all over the world to help out. I think this is less of a problem and more of an inevitable development of the team, since there are people in many other countries that are seriously dedicated to NS.
NS Guides is an organization that will help new comers to NS(preferablly all of us) while playing this mind boggling MOD, NS. I think they'll have specail tags that let you know if they're in it.

Did you try looking <a href="http://guides.readyroom.org/theteam.html" target="_blank">here</a>?
By the way, signature images are controlled in your Control Panel (top left). You have to find your own site online to host your file, which can be no larger than 22kb, 400x75 pixels. Check in the Artwork Forum for a thread with a bit more information about free hosting services and such.
No text guides to NS will be available on the Guide website. At least that's the current plan. If you read the news and some of the sections you will see what the program is all about <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
