As far as real/listenable Hip Hop or Rap goes, try listening to Black Star.
It's a collaboration between Mos Def and Talib Kweli, and every single song is gold. There's no iced-out thuggin' songs on the whole CD, most of them deal with real issues and actually sound good. They're all about rhymes and the message.
Also, try listening to some Deltron 3030, it's in a class of it's own, not even rap or hip hop.

I personally dislike 50Cent, Eminem, G-Unit, and Snoop Dogg myself. Black Star is good, I'm glad you brought that out. Jemini and Danger Mouse are good, Jaylib is alright.

That was the funniest thing I've seen in ages. I especially liked fake Snoop Dogg at the end, adding izzles so wizzles don't have to rizzle. Classic. I find it kind of sad that they claim to hate the music that is popular for no reason yet they want to become popular by making a parody of music that is popular for no reason? That strike anyone else as odd.
This just supports my beliefs that the majority of Ivy League students deserve to be run over by gas-electric cars.
And for those of you who think hip hop is unduely popular look at how many Grammies 50 cent won (0) and look at the charts and see that there are still 4-5 country songs in the top ten at all times. Los Angeles isn't the epicenter of the universe.

SOME deserve to get run over. Not the engineers, and other people who actually do stuff.
It's not as if the stereotypical fans of rap along with the stereotypical rappers contribute more positively to this world.
Yah ok if they made this, said it was a statement against trashy music and left it at that it would be fine, but the fact that they made a music video, and are trying to get themselves on MTV defeats the whole point.
Trust me when I tell they are just kids who want to be on TV.

Nope I'm against them because they are using princeton bandwith and our forums and time to promote themselves and try to get on TV. Like I said I don't beleive rap is popular, or a lasting form of music (talking about club hits here) it's a pop culture thing and if they really feel the way they do about it (other than trying to be funny) they should be lobbying and picketing and handing out petetions, not making fake music videos.
If they had left it at a song, and not made a video with themselves in it (what a cowinkadink eh) and possibly just left it as an on campus thing and let other people promote them I'd be happy. This would be like us making a music video to 1 million res nodes with all of the forum members having cameos then spamming the internet with links and telling people to try to get us on MTV.
