    Do you want it in essay form or cliff notes really is all I can say. Simply put, I don't want stupid changes that are not needed to fundamental rules. Adding real time combat is one such thing because it alters the entire combat system INCLUDING how the turn based system must therefore work.

    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Real time combat may seem bad at first, but the pause-anytime thing should make it just as strategic.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    Not really. Compare the likes of Neverwinter nights to ACTUAL 3rd edition. With certain kinds of DM (Read: me) combat in DnD turns into a tactical wargame in dungeon environments (I have little combat, but when I do there's a fair amount of it very hard and fast). Repeating that in a real time system is frankly impossible, because of how fundamentally different the two systems work.

    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->And didnt they say you have a choice of either realtime or old-skool turn base<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    There would be pear juice on my oranges. No matter what, the addition of real time would ensure that the turn based mode would suffer. It occurs in every game that does this, always to the detriment of the TB mode (or usually both). Arcanums TB mode was awful, but it was because of how the RT system worked, and the compromises made there that ruined it. In addition, some fights were impossible in one mode, yet a cake walk in the other. For example, a technologist could take out mummies even at a ridiculously low level in real time just by shooting a few times and running away. In TB however this is impossible and he'll lose 90% of the time inevitably. This is because the TB mode was so badly crippled to incorporate the RT mode.

    All they needed to do was keep the core system and CLEAN it up. However, they decided to just fundamentally change things, like adding RT combat [my main pet peeve] rather than just improve the current TB system.

    I'll let this newspost from <a href='http://www.duckandcover.net' target='_blank'>Duck and Cover</a> speak for itself:
    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Carsten Strehse of Silver Style decided to start a newsletter to keep people updated on where they are with The Fall development, aquiring the Fallout license, and ultimately making Fallout 3. You can sign up right <a href='http://www.the-fall.com/e/index.php?menu=newsletter' target='_blank'>here</a>.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    That newspost on Duck and Cover also talks about a way you can help contribute to the game: you can design an NPC, post it to their forums in the thread linked in that newspost, and if it's good enough it'll get in the game.

    The farce continues. This is a press release by interplay:

    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->
    Thanks for your note and comments on Interplay, its games, and recent actions.

    For some reason, there has been a high amount of speculation about Black Isle Studios and intellectual property surrounding the Fallout license. My only guess is that the source of these rumors must be an employee/employees who recently departed Interplay.

    My response to these rumors is quite simple: Interplay management makes decisions and takes action on items relating to product, personnel, costs, revenue, and more on a day-to-day basis, none of which would be deemed material by SEC regulations, and none of which would merit a public announcement or press release.

    Accordingly, if Interplay management had closed its most valuable development asset or chosen to abandon one of its most prized intellectual assets, the Company would have made an announcement.

    As always, Interplay management is focused on delivering great, profitable games and maximum shareholder value.

    What, so they never fired anyone? Never cancelled anything? Seems to me that they've hired the iraqi information minister. Or as Huggies, a former fallout 3 dev, says on nma's forums:

    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->
    Oh, crap! I guess this means I'm really freakin' late for work!

    Interplay? MORE LIEK INEPTPLAY, AM I RITE, AM I RITE?

    AGREED

    those console kiddies.. the fanboys I've met think they're better than you, think Halo is God's ultimate creation, have no concept of real multiplayer, say "you can do that with Xbox too", or "I know"

    FOR SHAME
    It's been years now and the revolutionary aspect, non existent, the dream of Godly multiplayer and the fantastic modding possibilities.. foRGOTTEN

    Hey, some people out there actually like consoles. I personally love them- I just think PC is easier multiplayer, because it was pre-made for it. The XBox has overcome tons of hurtles, and really became the premier online system. There are a lot of things you can do with a XBox. Not to mention, there are games on XBox that totally kick our ****. Case in point- Project Gotham Racing 2. God, I wish I had that damned thing... can someone loan me a wi-fi LAN?

    Oh, and Halo kicks ****, it just sucks on PC. It is a gift from god- it standardized vehicles.

    Agreed, Project Gotham Racing 2 is a good racing game, but you're off the mark with Halo. Halo sucks on a PC primarily because it was poorly ported from the X-Box. Don't forget that it was originally made for PC until Microsoft bought out Bungie and told them "We need you to make this as our killer app because we don't have enough good games to promote the X-Box's launch." And if you think it standardized vehicles, I'm afraid you completely missed out on Tribes 1.

    Back to being on-topic about Fallout, another screenshot got released, this time of an NPC model.

    [edit]As Sirus posted below, it may not be an FO3 model after all. Well, at least the forums I'd seen it on claimed it was, anyway.

    Marik, I don't think thats from Fallout 3. I'm positive that's from a BF Mod called...Dead Cities. It's a mod thats kind of a mixture between Fallout and Road Warrior/Mad Max.

    Here's the concept art from the Dead Cities webby. And I know thats one of the baddies from Road Warrior.
