I may not be on at all today, or for that matter, maybe tomorrow as well because my DSL is screwing up badly. It goes on and off at random and when it's on, only IE can connect.
Well, it's finally patching. It's at 49% so far and it's taking forever, but in an hour or two i reckon i'll be ready to play.
I've not yet chosen my character etc, obviously, but i'll most likely be female and called Pykmyn. This is also on the Dawnsong server (if it's called that).
I will most probably be joining sonic in running around naked, it sounds like fun....
It says it needs to autoupdate, a few clicks after I click on the "AC2 Trial" icon. So it says "Downloading such and such files... Installing such and such files... Update complete!" Then, it waits a second, then says "Downloading -same files as before-... installing -same files as before-... Update complete!" Then it waits a few more seconds... "Downloading -same files as the frst damn time_...". You get the idea. It did that about 5 times before I decided to stop it.
I clicked the "Help" link, went to the site where theres a 'fixed' autoupdate thing. So I get that, install it, and start up the trial again. It goes through the same "Downloading same files" thing, then gives me a message that the program needs to restart to fully install the update, and it does. Then it gets back to the update window and says "Downloading same files" again, and does that twice before I get ticked and delete it all.

~rubs eyes and yawns~ sorry guys... after work this morning I was feeling really tired and took a nap and when I woke up it... well... it's now really and it's 1am ^^;
I'll hop on and see if I can catch anyone (might hit IRC first) but if you need to catch me I'm called 'May'
I'll put up a small list of names that I know so we can contact each other
if you want to whisper to anyone in the game just type '/tell
<message', like... '/tell May hi!' for example.
Another thing I kinda advise is going into options->chat tab->general chat messages and unticking 'chat box 1'. Not only will itl cut down on the amount of poop clogging up your chat from complete strangers, making it easier to talk and whisper, but it might possibly save you from such interesting conversations as people talking about various parts of the body they shave ^^;
You can bring up a big long list of handy commands by typing /help too.
useful quick keys are...
r - /reply (so if someone whispers you, you can just hit r then type your response which it'll send to the last person who msged you) e - brings up/closes the description window m - brings up/closes the map F7 - brings up/closes the skill window f - 'uses' whatever you've got targetted; ie, attacking enemies, looting corpses, picking up items etc.
I suggest you do the little training thing they've got too, not only will it help you get a rough grip on how things work it'll give you 2 levels as well
Only other tip I can think of is, try and raise the 'mastery' of whatever weapon types you decide to use (melee, magic and missle) as it not only increases your chances of hitting stuff with them; it also increases how difficult it is for the monsters to hit you with that weapon type =D
edit: oop, the server's definitely Dawnsong, EU by the way.
Well, i've been playing it for a while now (thanks earlier guys, btw ) And ive hit level 9, i'm in the Millstone (iirc) area doing some shizzle.
if anyone is having trouble with the autoupdate I saw this on the AC2 boards: clicky!
I like being a Tumerok. They look cool all decked up, they've got awesome powers, and they're fairly rare... most people play a human or a... other thing.

I'm on the US Thistledown server. WTH kind of name is Thistledown anyway???

 We're all an Dawnsong, euro server, not bad pings for being in america.
I was on all day yesterday and pbly will be agian today, my ingame nick is Dranak, but today I'm going to be doing some catch-up quests.
Yeah ping is great on Dawnsong. The only problem is the 'Rubberband' effect where you'll run down a hill, then teleport back to the top. But even people in Europe get that.
I've usually got a ping of 80-90 and you're right, every now and then I still get bounced back up, but not too often ^^
If any of you guys see something called a 'bloodstone' run like heck; it's the first thing to kill me in the game and they're new. I'd never seen one before but after fighting with one I can only say they're cheating little things >< Every couple of seconds they get a sort of 'heartbeat' which doesn't seem to cost them any vigor and instantly puts them back to full health... basically you have to kill it in under x amount of time or it just gets all it's health back and to make things nastier you really feel it when it hits you, the little crystal does a lot of dmg =s
If anyone wants to see something cool as heck go into one of the alliegence halls; for only 20,000 gold you can make one of these cool little places your home. Included in this package is training facilities for your new members (straw drudges), a meeting hall and a general meeting hall that's super big. It also acts as a recall spot so anyone in your alliegence can teleport there when they want. Almost makes me tempted to start saving and getting some people to make oaths to me XD
For anyone wondering the alliegence system is a pretty sweet deal; basically the person you swear alleigance too gets free xp based off how much you're getting. In return they're supposed to help you out and equip you up (otherwise you can just tell them to go stuff themselves and break your oath ). It's kinda like a pyramid scheme and the person at the top is the 'monarch'. They're the one who has to fork out for the alliegence hall and is generally the person who gets the most xp out of it all ^^ Course you can't be lazy, you can only get so much of a % of your total level's xp from this hierarchy leeching so you still have to get off your royal bum and kick some quests.

Once you get soulbound weapons or a decent weapon and someone to help, bloodstones fall quick, well lesser ones anyone, the real ones will tear you from limb to limb if given the chance since they drain your life for their own. :|
I'm still trying to work out what class tree to take but I think I'll probably end up going the sorcerer path ^^
for anyone who hasn't noticed or read the linked stuff if you look at the melee, missle and magic trees you'll notice 2 buttons to the right of the base skill; click on those to see the class trees. Like any skills you can untrain your way out of a class but you can only have 1 class tree at a time. The base skill you have to buy to become that class costs 5 skill points and they've got a level limit on them (I think you have to level 10 or something before you can buy them).
You can play on EU or US with the same account, it just means you'll have to start with fresh characters if you go on a different server from the one you're playing on (Dawnsong in my case =3 ) so if any of you USers wanna try it on dawnsong or if any EUers want to see what doom and smoke are up to it's easy enough to do and you don't need to make a new account
AC2 forums edit: As per usual I've been looking about and I noticed that people have been complaining that 'rubber-banding' has become more common since this months patch... methinks it's not network lag and rather some kinda cliche in position updating but I'll keep an eye on what the devs say =P
There's also the new content (new to them and anyone who's trialled before anyways) of the undead war. you can pick a side in the war and go get involved in some PvP (even though there's servers for PvP... go figure) or side-based quests. The two undead reps are in cragstone and accepting a quest from one or the other (if you have the level requirement) will put you on their side. I don't see why anyone would want to help one of two sides in a totally undead war buuuut... whatever floats your corks =s
guess I'll go hit the IRC room and see what's up and who's where ^^
Sorry, Gem, but I don't think I'll be able to participate. A lot of problems are springing up and I don't think I'm going to have time to deal with them AND play AC2. (And I have to pick problems over AC2, because if I don't solve them, I won't be playing anything for a long, long time.)
