Really, if being in the same room bothers you, try saying after me: *starts walking*
Sorry, but I am against character-jacking. If you want to move to another room, you will either have to walk from the room you're in to the room you want to be in, or you will have to find a DM that is willing to take over your characters in downtime and leave only the combat to the players.
One way that you keep surprising me is that you can spend literally pages having your characters tell each other that it's time to start moving, without having a SINGLE character actually put one leg in front of the other. I think it's a habit. I need to push the story forward, I know, but sometimes I need you to help pushing too (especially in the exploration phases because I can't move a thing without serious issues like gales blowing through the hallways).
"Let's get this over with." *Moves up near Terran, just slightly behind on his right*
"So the question is, do we head straight for the labs, or do a quick sweep of the rooms along the way? I vote for a quick sweep of each room. I feel safer knowing we didn't leave something dangerous behind us."
*Opens hip pouch, grabs some jelly beans* "Oh Mr.JellyBean, you are my friend." *Munch, munch*
*Brings LMG to the ready* "So if there are no objections, let's start sweeping the rooms."
[Checks out each room along the way to the labs, looking for anything unusual]
[Follows Grim allong] "Ya know was this really necessary? Its supposed to be empty anyway, heh." *Gets moving again once the rooms are cleared*
*Takes position near the middle of the group* "Lets sweep then, maybe we'll find something usefull" *Checks his new hud map, looking for a point of interest along the way to the lab*

you walk down the corridors. The place is clean, not even any blood. But nor is anything of value left, it seems anything organic has been blasted. (you know it's common practice for research stations to have nano-codes to allow such cleaning, and that those are used by the TSA in extreme cases, but that those things are a last resort since they take out both humans and usually also the nano-grid itself. It's kind of like a self-destruct that leaves the hull or the structure itself. Computers are still alive though)

*looks at the fork in the road* "Hmm, I think we should split up into a group of two, proportionate in a 1:2 ratio. Data Storage group - You walk along the corridor. You don't more than around a corner before a door blocks the way though. Trying to open it using the panel has no effect, not even an access denial. The door is made of a transparent material, with a few reinforcing bars of metal running across. (Headcrab - the door looks like the same kind of nano-network controlled security doors that you've used during your "career". Must've stopped working after the nano-network was fried)
Kharaa Reseach lab group - You walk through a clean corridor. After a few turns, you reach a lock gate that was appearantly used to restrict access to the labs. I say "was" because this was obviously the way the aliens used to get out. It's actually quite weird looking, because the doors are bent over, with crashed metal reinforcement and splintered protection nano-glass, and at the same time it's surgically clean, almost shining.
