Will Ns:c Become The "main" Form Of Play?

Now, I'm looking forward to NS:C as much as the next guy is, but sometimes I wonder if 2.01 will be the last time I'll be able to comm 10 minute marine wins. What I'm saying is NS is about the RTS/FPS combo, not some counterstrike frag-em-up play mode. Combat mode should be a side mode, something like an appetizer that people fall back to when they're tired of being at the mercy of their commander or alien team, or just feel like killing a lot of something. What I don't want to see is combat becoming the dominant mode. Personally, I think NS:C has much more "fun" potential then RTS/FPS in that you don't have to listen to some comm or worry about your team, all you ahve to do is kill a lot of stuff.
Bleh, I'm not into making long posts, so I'll just stop now. What are your feelings about the future of NS and NS combat?

Its not...bad, it just doesn't have much depth to it. Which is the reason most people, myself at least, play NS.
I think it'll first release stress for people tired of bad NS situations with teams who just stink and bad attitudes all around.
Second, it'll get outside people interested in NS - and familiar with what upgrades, playing styles, weapon effectiveness do in classic NS.
that way someone coming in to a tactical situation won't be completely lost, all he has to do really is learn about the buildings and teamwork. After that it's all pace and tactics.
I consider it both a stress release and an introductory way of bringing more people around.
But it can also be used as a stress reliever for a bad comm/bad gorge who dropped the wrong chamber.
Classic NS > NS:C
It may be a good thing though, as all those people who play NS purely for the onos or HA/HMG will probably go onto combat (i assume that the higher upgrades will be more common there). Also, it may allow you to play fade for a bit (assuming you are good enough to get the experience anyway) and so practice new techniques without having to play NS classic, which involves much more jumping around as a skulk, and has situationas where certain weapons/lifeforms are just not viable. Of course, experienced players already have the knowlage of what to do with the unusual weapons ETC... though it would be interesting to play with a cloaking skulk on a pub server without 3 hives up, and i hope that combat will allow you to do this.
A good thing for the community IMHO.

There will always be some of us that like our fast food more.
In a large number of cases, the major reason for playing NS started as disillusionment at the available games - cs, dod, to name the two most commonly quoted games.
If NS:C takes all of the players out of CNS, then I shall eat my words (and maybe my hat too). I believe that NS:C will ADD to the NS community, not detract from it - for the reasons I have already mentioned.

Instead of speculating what would happen,I would just wait it out. But if it does detract gameplay at all, I'm going to eat my words. And maybe request someone to bash me with a hammer.

Not to defend ricky at all but, why is it ok to speculate that NS:C will be the "bomb-diggity" and not that it will detract from regular NS? Seems like a double standard tbh.

Phew.
yea since 2.0 came out and it was all publiciced and advertised all over people from CSTFC and other mods decide to join in to see that NS is merly a game that doesnt envolve big guns at the start and rampage killing and shooting and all the blood and guts and explosions and crazyness, so they do what they want and dont follow the game correctly NS:c will i feel put aside those "people" and leave room for some cool reg NS games where the end games are close and not a complete ownage because one team doesnt listen to thie comm or saves for onos and dies or just places whatever chamber they want that the team doesnt agree on, im looking foward to NS:C because of that and the sheer fun of once inawhile going on a crazy killing rampage. and it will give us team players a chance to meet up in servers mabye n play GOOD games that are worth while and dont end up me getting mad at my team
If the people that play NS for the fragging go to NSC then all the nice ones will stay right?
how could it be different?
This is wrong.
It won't take away from the existing pool of hardcore NS players, instead, if NS:C does indeed become more popluar, it is because it will draw upon an entirely new playerbase from outside of NS (CS, DoD, FA, insert mod here other than NS).
The existing playerbase of NS will always remain; why would people be drawn to a more action suited version of NS over the strategy NS, when these same types of people could have played FA, CS, DoD, etc. all along? This sort of thinking that NS:C will take away from the existing playerbase of NS just makes NO sense at all.
If NS:C becomes more popular, it is because it will have taken away other players from other mods, but not from NS itself. I'm sure Flayra has already deduced this and is probably the reason why he is making NS:C; it offers no potential risk and yet so much to gain.
thats my two cents, I wonder what Flayra (in the thread right now) thinks about it?
Also, NS:C will remove the people who play for the skulk-killing or marine-munching. (Onos in 3 min, what else would you want?)
Yeh i know sounds a bit like brown nosing but have they led us astray yet??
From the sound of the community it sounds like teamwork and strategy are the reason they play this and not other mods. And i personally have to agree. I dont mind CS but i just cannot play as much or as long as i can NS, boredom kicks in when playing CS. NS has alot of variables and can definetly kill the boredom.
C'mon 4 days straight of NS with 6 hrs sleep just aint healthy no other game has induced this effect on me before. I'll die with a mouse in my hand playing NS 1 day i reckon. Oh yeh i was at a mates place using his connection when i achieved this marathon. My net connection at home is terrible so i sorta had to get maximum efficiency of my time with ns at his place. U prolly think im some sick nerd but would u believe i actually attend uni and have a GF?? Me neither Actually come to think of it I nearly missed my Yr 12 exams last year due to NS. MY GOD WHAT HAVE U DONE TO ME FLAYRA!?!
