Perhaps all the gear is taken with them back to Frontersman HQ, and is recycled there to fund more research and development, or office chairs, or something along those lines. Or better yet, FOOD to sustain the corps between Kharaa-clearing missions. Yes, that tasty MRE you're eating was once a part of the base of that Armory you set up on Nothing.

ok, if TSA frontiersmen are so smart, then why the heck they continuously try to reproduce with armory?

Or the guns and equipment ARE recycled... and that's where NS:Combat comes in. The higher ranks get the old equipment.

Repost to answer #2, asking why the TSA doesn't send in HA/HMG right at the start:

You, as a marine, are given an option at the beginning of a round: Your team may start with 500 res in the bank, every upgrade/technology researched, and a full outfitting of HA and heavy weapons. In exchange, however, you must give the aliens a 15-minute head start before you even enter the map. Would you take it?

Imagine what would happen. Every node on the map would be capped by the aliens, all hives built, every strategically important location fortified, and every alien their choice of lifeform with 100 res in reserve. Even if the marines weren't wiped out in the opening seconds of the game, the aliens could overwhelm them with wave after wave of tactically superior units. In short, the marines would be screwed.

The TSA succeeds where others have failed because they work fast. They dock with ships in hours instead of days, and can kill the infection before it spreads out of control. This approach can only be managed by keeping battle-ready transports in almost every inhabited star system, and an organization as deprived of funds as the TSA cannot afford to outfit each of these squads with top-of-the-line equipment. While focusing on fewer, better-equipped transports would be an option for the TSA, it would significantly slow their initial response time.

To allow the Kharaa a head start is suicide, and not worth any starting bonus.

Question is, does that mean the size of the whole nanomachine is a nanometer in diameter or just a component of the nanomachine? Also, nanotechnology is defined as having at least one dimension on a scale of nanometers. It could be one large flat wafer. Nanotechnology is also defined as devices being built by the use of single atoms or molecules, which has no relation to nanometer.

There's alot of flexibility when it comes to nanotech in games as there are no precedents yet and terminology is in it's infancy.

Well see the governments/corporations dont allow the TSA to take the guns with them,so its put into storage for REAL emergency uses.

How the hell do you add electrons?
    Air is just h20.
    18 electrons in total.
Plus they would have to alter the orbit structure. i.e. the stuff with more than 2,8,8,2 elec config.

Long answer: The TSA are on a tight budget. Very few corporations or governments even *like* them, though the people love 'em to pieces. They can afford to send copies of software detailing the construction of given structures, but cannot justify sending along expensive equipment. In short, the structures and equipment they make are the 'fee' they charge a ship for clearing it of Kharaa, as they use ship resources to make them. They slot their equipment specs into the Comm Chair, and work from there with what they can lay their hands on. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->

That would equal basically the same size though. The size of an atom is on the order of 10^-10 meters, or one tenth of a nanometer.
