Is This Script Possible, Nay Probable?

There is a trend that has started up in the past 2 months, server admins are using reserved slots to allow skilled players to join while always keeping their servers full. It would be very useful to have a script of some kind (perhaps amx? or a mod for AM or metamod?)

A list of wonids/steamids, whenever someone joins it kicks someone who is not on the list, however if everyone on the server is on the list no one could join, this is what I'm trying to get around here, the script would kick the lowest person on the list, thus whoever is closest to the top of the list would have the highest precedence and kick anyone lower (for instance so the server owner could get in, or clan members). Another way would be to have set groups of precedence, lets say 3 groups, you could put clan members and server operators in the highest group, server regulars in the 2nd group and anyone else that is on the list in the 3rd group.

So first, has anyone made something like this already? and if not how hard would it be to make?

This hasn't been done. The closest I can think of that you could do would be to grant Adminmod immunity to those you never want kicked.

If the server is full of immune people I believe AM would halt and not kick. But, IIRC, AM would permit someone to join into the extra slot.

what's your definition of 'skilled people', people who are the most accurate with their weapons, who don't necessarily have to or do participate in teamwork?

since it looks like AM or amx doesn't have something like this, they way you would do it would probably be coding your own metamod program...

    yah for C++

He didn't want to discuss who is elite or not here, he can choose that for himself, he was just looking for a mod for adminmod or amx.
    GG FOR GOING OFF-TOPIC!!

    Ok back on topic.
Lux, I would try requesting it on <a href='http://modns.org' target='_blank'>http://modns.org</a>

myHLAdmin does this, and you can even set various ranks for the people on your "list", so that if your server is full of randoms, the highest pinger will get kicked to let somebody with a reserved slot in, and if the server is full of reserve slot holders then when an admin tries to join one of the reserve slot holders will get kicked to make way.

Unfortunately there is a bug atm where an admin joining will kick ANY highest pinger, so I sometimes find that I'll get kicked from a server when an admin joins, and then as soon as I rejoin a non-slot holder gets kicked to make way for me.

Basically the end result is that a non-slot holder gets kicked ANYWAY, but I simply lose all my equipment/upgrades and get frustrated D:

Using scripts/plugins like that is just annoying. Yes, it might be the clans server, but it still isn't fair to kick random players in the middle of the game. You've taken over 2 hives and now preparing to finish of the last as the commander or built a few hives and chambers and finally fragged res for an onos. And then you get kicked even though you didn't even do anything to deserve it. It would be much better to keep adminslots "invisible", so when an admin joins the game, the servers max players limit goes up by one. I know it is possible, because we had that on our last server.

It is the regulars that make a server, it allows the owner of the server to determin who is more important on the server. It might be annyoing to be kicked... just find a server, become a reg and a part of thier community and get on the list...

i like this idea, but it sounds like admins would have to update it alot and it prolly would take a long time

Actually this has been done or something like this. Voogru and www.guns4back2school.com use a donation system, where they can add wonids etc. If the server is 26/26 it will kick the last person in the last spot of the server and let the donator in. Very Cool, and the best way IMO

Thats so stupid. How can you become a reg if you get kicked 24/7

You make it sound like people that can aim don't use teamwork, or the only people that use teamwork are people that can't aim.

Yes I would rather have someone that can own it up on their own on my team, then a group of 4 guys that are working as a team and can't attack or defend anything.

Yes, but that script doesn't seem to work too well...
I often play on G4B2S on my 56k (500+ ping) when the serv is full, but i've never been kicked - the player count has gone up to 27/26 (no typo, the maxplayers stays 26) a disturbing number of times :S

Find a server that doesnt use it then. I play mostly on Cofr and I get kicked all the time, but if the gameplay in that server isnt worth getting kicked then don't play there. If you make obvious contrabutions to the team, work well and all those other good things Im sure the administrator of the server would love to give you a reserve spot, seing as how your improving thier gameplay.

PS. Most of these reserve spots use highest pinger so you may be getting kicked so much if your on dial-up, playing on a far away server, or other wise poor connection.
