Now can he model the inner-parts and animate them all working with a real-world physics engine?

    (j/k, it rules.)

That gun would be useless ingame, people would just keep staring at it all the time! Man! Look at all the detail, you can even see the springs on the bipod...

This might be a stupid question to some, but what the heck:

Can the HL2 engine support that?

How many years did it take for him to complete that?

the fun part about modeleing, is what people will *do* to add things to their portfolio.... that model counts a s a sekcs +1 portfolio object...

also known as the "i can do detailed if you want me to"...

but said portfolio item has a -5 impression factor on game makers...

when making a model for a game, if they wanted HIGH poly, they would just higher any old nub... if they wanted something that looked that good, and be 100 poly, they would hire somone with REAL skill....

    In other words...

"Gee I wish I could model like that."

Don't be so negative. Just be blown away by the quality of his workmanship like the rest of us.

Very well done... but are there animations for deploying the bipod and flipping open the lens caps on the scope?

I'm not blown away. It's pointless to have a model that'll probably drop your FPS a ton.

delarosa is completely right. Even though this model blows the belt on my pants off, it really serves no purpose until the year 2300. A reall skilled modeler is someone who can model a really detailed piece of work with less polies. Not saying that this modeler has no skills.

    Agree with Del.

And for the record, HL2's viewmodels, to my knowledge, are only around 2000 polys. They're one of the only parts of HL2's graphics that *isn't* scalable, and so they reveal the limitations that still affect even today's most advanced engines.

wasting polys isnt hard.... i think its even easier than modelling lowpoly... maybe a little bit timeconsuming, but not hard.
  • RellixRellix Join Date: 2003-02-15 Member: 13572Members, Constellation, Reinforced - Shadow
Ok, imagine HL could support that many polys. Imagine it as an LMG replacment.

How many burnet out PCs would there be when the server crashes when the round starts?
