when making a model for a game, if they wanted HIGH poly, they would just higher any old nub... if they wanted something that looked that good, and be 100 poly, they would hire somone with REAL skill....

Don't be so negative. Just be blown away by the quality of his workmanship like the rest of us.
I'm not blown away. It's pointless to have a model that'll probably drop your FPS a ton.

And for the record, HL2's viewmodels, to my knowledge, are only around 2000 polys. They're one of the only parts of HL2's graphics that *isn't* scalable, and so they reveal the limitations that still affect even today's most advanced engines.
