Each of my planets is pumping out 1 BS every 20 hours They cost me 500 each and I have 11 planets, soon to be 12. Besalt Mono's are great! So each day I have 11 more BS's My fleet is now about 60 BS, 40 C, 100 D In total its almost 3000 Attack Points!

I don't know about some of you, but I am at a level of ecconomy where my ships cost this: D = 25 C = 200 BS = 500 This makes fleets very cheap. Whats better to get for attacking in ways of most Attack Points (AP) per pp. Now heres where the cost comes into play. Example: 2 BS (2 x 500) = 1000pp = 36AP x 2 = 72AP Example 2: 1000pp / 25 = 40 D = 2AP x 40 = 80AP The attack points of 40 D is 8 AP more than 2 BS for the same cost. Alone x1= 2, y1 = 36 where x is a D and y a BS so it would take 18 D to equal 1 BS or 450pp thats 50pp less than a BS or 2 D more.
So in the large range D are better to buy in large numbers, but heres where they suck. The defense of a D is FAR less than a BS. BS attack = 36 D attack = 2 BS defense = 24 D defense = 1
I think the BS is far better than the cost friendly counterpart (D's). In the long run, you would lose more D than BS in a battle. Does anyone think different.
On the astrowars forums, many people have concluded that certain ratios are good. Check those out.
Also, when you attack, some say that it's wise to hit with ~15-20 destroyers first, then come in with your main fleet. The destroyers will be killed, but if they knock down the starbase a level, it will give your main force an easier time
if you use a level 1 economics 30 pp destroyer as the base unit, you can calculate the efficiency of buying units:
destroyer: 2 attack, 1 def per 30 pp cruiser: 1 attack, 2 def per 30 pp battleship: 1.8 attack, 1.2 def per 30 pp
so it all adds up to 1 combat value per 10 pp...
some people say destroyers are good for cannon fodder -- but I find that when I send a balanced fleet into combat, I lose equal proportions of cruisers, battleships, and destroyers... so I don't think you save anything by using more destroyers. personally, I spend all points on trade, buy back PP's, spend about 45% on battleships, 45% on cruisers, and fill in the rest with destroyers.

Still, the "oh crap" factor goes up by 3 points when you're staring at 50 Battleships. The "oh please" factor goes up by 2 points when you're staring at 50 destroyers, though.
