As of tomorrow i'm shutting myself in a cave, and not immerging until HL2 is out. That way I won't be bothered by all the rumours (LIES! LIES I SAY!) that are flying about. If David Blaine can live on just water for 44 days, I can last until HL2!

Well on the plus side, HL2 could be the first game EVER to secretly go gold <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Looks true Commie. :-( It was an ambitous date to start with.

IF it goes gold today or tommrow, its possible that it will make it. Doubtful it will go gold though. :-/

I hope that's not true... They can't mess up HL2 now, that'll be too bad for them

    This much is true.

Besides, even if the game had gone gold, as many people who leak stuff early (full games, let alone news about a game) you honestly think that if HL2 was in mass production we wouldn't know about it? That Joe B. $5.25 An Hour wouldn't hesitate to let it slip that they were shipping these things? Or what about all the retailers? They would either be incredibly sneaky, or unaware of an impending massive shipment of products...

Face it: Half-Life 2 is going to be late.

So HL2 will be late, it won't work on Nvidia cards, it won't have a multiplayer because Steam will be trashed, it will be pay to play, and Valve will release it in two parts, and the physics engine will come in a seperate expansion pack.

I think I'll just wait till the 30th and make up my own mind.

And considering how late Valve was with HL, and how late Games releases usually are, how is this a surprise to anybody?
Anyway, look at the plus side, Valve took forever to push HL out, and it turned out great.

I would love to see an article where Valve stated HL2 would be in stores on Sept 30th. Please link me. What I recall them saying is that they will be 'done' on Sept 30th. Done does not mean on a CDROM in Best Buy, done means the game is ready to be published.

    Prove me wrong, please.

I've hated PHL ever since they've started declaring that HL2 will be delayed.

Oh well, I expect Amazon to notify me if the release date has been changed. (I have the email that says it will ship on the 29th still.)

Because it's time to move on to bigger, better things. Using WON would seriously cripple Half-Life 2 multiplayer.

Nope. I need to see an official Valve or Vivendi press release, not some CNN imbecile's opinion on the situation. "Truth in reporting" is a phrase very similar to "high-quality communist manufacturing techniques".

Doug Lombardi says <a href='http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.vossey.com%2Fdossier.php%3Fid%3D130&langpair=fr%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools' target='_blank'>here</a> that the release date is September 30th, for sure, all over the world. Yes, it's a sloppy translation but it's still official.
  • MonsieurEvilMonsieurEvil Join Date: 2002-01-22 Member: 4Members, Retired Developer, NS1 Playtester, Contributor
It is more than sloppy, to the point where I cannot consider that official. Idiomatically, it does not translate into 'we will have HL2 on the shelves Sept. 30th". It is just a mishmash of crap.

I would assume that with so many Valve press releases made a few months ago about this, you could find something not run through the retardation that is Babbelfish. The burdon of proof is on you, the prosecution. Your evidence is thrown out, and I expect proper documentation in the clerks hands by tonight!

From this month's PC Zone UK, interview with Doug Lombardi.

    PCZONE: So, September 30th then?
    Doug L: Yep.
    PCZONE: Definitely September 30th?
    Doug L: Uh-huh.
PCZONE: And the release date for Half-Life 2?
    Doug L: September 30th.
PCZONE: So the games going to be released on the....
Doug L: It hasn't changed since you asked me 10 seconds ago.

There's your proof m'lord. Whether Mr. Lombardi is a man of his word or not is simply a matter of time <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Released to *what*? To CD manufacturers? To Best Buy? To Steam? Steam makes the most sense, as you could sell the game that very day.

Still not good enough. I want to see something that cannot be misinterpreted. Wow and amaze me with your googling skills.

Pfft Lombardi, who cares what he has to say, I want to hear what Valve has to say on the subject.

Uh Valve is a fully conscious android with human-like AI that runs the software company right?

If you'll allow me to field this one MonsE. Ship to where, a warehouse, a storage facility, ship it onto Steam? And release to what, the general public, the testers within the company, release to the final stage of production?

Nope nothing substantial here. No mention of it being available for purchasing for the general public.

This is kinda fun, what do they mean by "miscommunication", who miscommunciated with whom? How did they miscommunicate, what method of miscommunication did they use?

Of course, this means that anything said by anyone means nothing.

For instance, if I was to say that I would do something tomorrow, then I could put off doing it forever, seeing as tomorrow never technically comes. "Tomorrow" is just a concept which most people attach to the next day in a sequence. There is no day that I can point to and say, "This will be tomorrow", because then on the next day I find out that the concept of tomorrow has in fact changed overnight, and what was once today has become yesterday, and what was once the day after tomorrow has now become tomorrow, and the statement I made yesterday (which was today at the time) must now be extended, as tomorrow has moved on to the next day in the sequence.

I pre-ordered HL2 at my local EBGames, the guy made sure to tell me that EBGame's "official" relase date for HL2 was 11/15

The only way Im thinking that Valve will make this release is because they will have all the resources they need to push it out the door once its done. I mean don't you think Vivendi will have its CD presses working overtime?

Plus, I don't see any reason why Valve would keep pushing Sept 30th if it wasnt going to make it. They know they have as much time to work on the game as they want because their investors know it will pay off big.

Until I hear otherwise direct from the horses mouth, Im anticipating kicking some zombie arse this time tomarrow, next week <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
