Seeing as my father is from Boston I support all the local teams (Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and the Bruins)

Despite the fact that I am English, and enjoy football and cricket, I also like to watch those Yank sports too.

(Not to do with baseball I know but I thought I'd add it here)I hate being the only Patriot fan on this side of the Atlantic, everyone supports the Dolphins(because dolphins are cool and its Miami) or the Raiders( "'cos their symbol is wikkid innit!!!")

Damn it Dad why couldn't you be born in New York?

MonsE - This is how my perfect post season would go:

ALEast - Red Sox
ALCentral - Kansas City (gotta root for the underrated team)
ALWest - Oakland (always hated Seattle & Anaheim, texas is never in it)

NLEast - Don't really have a choice... Braves
NLCentral - St. Louis
NLWest - Don't have a choice on this either... Giants

Now, the wildcards:

ALWildcard - Yankees (or Seattle would be close)
NLWildcard - Cubs (or Florida)

So then my first round of playoffs would proceed like this:

Oakland vs Yankees
Red Sox vs KC

Cubs vs Braves
St. Louis vs Giants

With Oakland & the Red Sox proceeding to the ALCS
and Cubs & St. Loius proceeding to the NLCS

Then, I honestly don't know which teams I'd root for, but I bet we'd be in for some good games.
Probably the Cards would defeat the Cubs...

Cubs bullpen sucks, they have great starters.. St. Louis just has such a powerful hitting lineup and the cubs at times refuse to hit. Cubs could win if Prior, Wood, and Clement pulled out one of their sweet pitching gems on the Cards. Also, the Cardinals pitching isn't to shabby either.

I'd got with Cardinals over the Cubs for NLCS

and with Oakland vs Red Sox I'd probably go with the Red Sox to win that (++East team bias++ There is a west division??? who knew

AAHHHHHHH Cards fans everywhere, nooooooooo!!!

St. Louis Cardinals fans are pretty cool though, and they are a real sports town with fans that go if they win or lose (like the Cubs). That's how I judge a city's sports fans: if they bother to show up when their team sucks. Wrigley field (where the Cubs play) is packed every single game, even though they last won a championship in 1908(!).

Also, I simultaneously hate/am jealous of the Cards fans for having Albert Pujols, who may be our generation's Joe Dimaggio. On the other hand, we have Mark Prior which is our generation's Cy Young, so suck it redbird wussy girls! Did I mention that I drove to Zebulon, North Carolina just to see Mark Prior pitch a Double-A game for the West Tenessee Diamond Jaxx, against the Zebulon Mudcats? So did ESPN...

MonsE -

1) ALBERT Pujols
2) I'm obsessed with Mark Prior too, even before he got called up. I was constantly keeping up with him to see when he'd finally get called up.

Although, I wish he pitched in a Cardinals Uniform

Woo, kick-booty post Cri.tical. I do have to point out that the last time the hard-hitting Cards met the Cubs though, they lost to use 4 out of 5 games in the series...

ANd yes, our bullpen. Gah. Everytime I see Kyle Farnsworth come onto the field I start hyperventilating. We need to trade his no-pressure-taking **** to some team that only sees him throwing the ball 101 miles an hour (and doesn't see that batters usually hit it 101 miles out of the ballpark).

There was some talk this week on chicagosports.com of possibly making Kerry Woods into a closer due to his injuries. Yes, a closer. As much as I love the idea of him opening, the thought of us having our first really amazing closer since Lee Smith makes me all tingly...

Edit: Fixed Albert. I smoke too much crack...

You may have fixed albert, but you still haven't fixed Pujols

hahaha
Everytime he comes in the throws a 103 mph fastball strikes out some guy, then next gives up a bomb of a homerun.
Also.. how about Antonia AlfonSUCKa ? (As my cub-loving friend calls him). That guy has been horrible since 2 years ago
Can't say the same thing about Jason Isringhausen, can ya ?

Bah. I wasn't all that upset when he Alphonseca got suspended for 5 games - it pumps up the team to get vengeance (on some of the most terrible umpiring I've ever seen in my life), and it keeps him away from batters.

But Farnsworth did you prove you don't charge him on the mound unless you are bringing a half-dozen friends. He beat Paul Wilson's ***, and deservedly so. Definitely a different cubs team this year than in the past - arguments, suspensions, a lot of hit batsmen, just generally getting the energy level up. Dusty Baker has been playing this team like a violin, and IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII like it.
