Sharp learning curve on GX. It's more about if you want to spend about an hour learning the controls and getting decent on the Ruby Cup (not hard if you played the original F-Zero... the concepts are pretty much the same), only to get your rear handed to you on Sapphire Cup 5 (Mute City:Serial Gaps) or Emerald Cup 3 (Lightning: Halfpipe). It's not that the other racers are a major problem... it's that you have to get decent to even finish ONE lap!
Hell, I was so jazzed the first time I finished Lap 1 on Halfpipe that I promptly took the first turn too wide and went sailing over the opposite edge when it switchbacked. And that took about four or five hours to accomplish... after two days, I managed to finish it. Three-four days with my constantly-upgrading machine, and I managed to place first on Expert difficulty. It's all about learning how to take the track, both for best time and so you won't go flying off to crash and burn.
Now (if I still had it... had to return the rental) I just have to get used to using the side-bash and Spin Attack manouvres, so I can score myself some extra machines in Master class, as well as cut down the competition by blowing 'em away.

--- to malevolent: Yeah, voldo is cool. People i know shy away from using him because he's ,well , really creepy. I'm trying to be good with him so i can have an advantage using him against people who misjudge how annoying voldo is. Oh, and buy his 3rd costume when you can, it's looks really cool. ---
Right now i use spawn, ivy, yoshimitsu, maxi, nightmare, and mitsurugi, but i'm stoll trying to become proficcient with these guys and learn some good combos.
heres a fun combo with ivy that i love using: a+b to get into that stance where she swings valentine around behind her, then run up to an opponent and do a, a, (down) a, (right diagonal) a+b, then juggle them in the air with whatever you want.
uber fun. (my thumb hurts from playing SC2... )
