A skilled early fade can seriously hurt a marine team.

SHAMPOO of HAM is a fine example of this. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
I second that , the demos of HAM vs Xigent are frightening...
NS players should just specialize in whatever task they're the best at. If they die too easily as a skulk they can go gorge and earn res from well placed OCs , while dropping a few other chambers or res ; if they can make good use of their 50 res as a fade they will help the team more than by just putting a hive. Early lerks can make tons of RFK's , letting them put the 3rd hive after changing the hive room into a gas chamber and helping their teammates reclaim it with umbra.

There is one obvious case of selfish behavior - saving for onos. The players using this method are parasites really , nothing irritates people more than an idle and unskilled onos whining for DCs then dying in seconds.

Sitting on 100 res as a lerk/fade is just as bad. Thats a hive and a chamber and enough to go back to fade. In a tight game where res is low, that player could make all the difference.

Depends, if its the late game it probably doesn't matter; but if its the early game then you odon't want your strongest units away from the fighting for that long.

edit: if you have 100 res it likely means middlegame at the earliest, I know, but I it is possible to get that much res if you stay on top the marines o.O

Generally mid-late game yes. Usually its res that could be used on third hive or a chamber outpost near the rine base. By mid game I'm lucky to have 2 points to go to skulk, so I'd love to know why lerks/fades with 80-100 points haven't went gorge to drop a chamber for the benefit of the team.

Besides, if you're any good those spent res will come back very quickly.
