I guess I'm having a morita fetish tonight.
I didn't like the fact that the carrying handle was, well, just that and nothing more. It didn't have any iron sights that I could see.
So basically I did the following:
-Removed shotgun, grip, second trigger group, and carrying handle.
-Added M-4A2 grip
-Added RIS rails
-Added M-4A2 iron sights and carrying handle (modified the handle slightly to keep true with the morita shape)
-"drilled" the holes in the side of the model all the way through the model (they were not before).
Credits: Morita (DarkB5), M4A2 parts (SasStu)
The original model itself is pretty horrid, but it wasn't really apparent until I tried to put the holes in the side. I may end up just making a new one from scratch if I'm bored enough.
Anyways, just tinkering around with a few ideas. I doubt it'll ever get in game (I didn't ask permission to do the hackjob) but I think the end result looks pretty sexy.

It's true what enf0rcer said though, you model alot of things that wont show up as they should once the skin is applied.
In this particular model, the only thing I actually modelled in are the holes. I may be alone on this, but I want actual holes, not skins. Especially when it's at an angle where the outline is affected; skins can simulate depth, but if there's a major groove or something, your going to tell the difference between a skin and not.
Thats just me though. 99% of this model was done by Darkb5, and is on the default morita. The changes I made don't add many polys. I modelled the inside of the barrel because, like I said, I didn't think this would actually be used and when it's not going in game, I like it when the barrel is modelled inside <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
If someone wanted to use it in game, deleting backfaces would immediately put it into the reasonable poly range.
Ultra-low poly seems to be a fad lately, but that's just not me. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

it's an M4A1, Jemmimus made a typo when he put it on CDG <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
lol I'm retarded. I didn't even think to check and make sure it was A2 or A1 <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Thus, the reason WHY we need 60 pages + beta testing is exposed <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
