If I'm out trying to build a RT, regarless of whether it's a clan game or a pub, and I know the other guy has better aim than me I am going to let him guard while I build. Building is not dependant on skill level, guarding is.

If there is, as is claimed by some, a correlation between kill/death ratio and the contribution a player is making to a team, then in the example I gave earlier, by definition, the marine that made the kills is making a greater contribution to the team - a statement which is ludicrous given the nature of the game, and thus renders personal kill/death scores worthless.
The only reason I support an endgame scoreboard at all is because, according to clan players, FPS skill is the main criteria in choosing new members of a clan and thus should be measurable quantitatively, without the use of external server mods such as statsme.
First off, the human being loves to brag. My friends <b>never</b> tell me about how "his team consitantly cleared out dust with teamwork" or how" clever use of flashbangs and coordination caused a rout of the terrorists". The conversation <b>almost always</b> begins with "<i>dude, I went 27 and 3 on aztec last night. I single-handedly denied the T's from double-door.</i>" People get a high from the feeling of supremacy. Ever get 4 kills in a row as a marine? Notice you seem to play a little better and more competitvly when your trying to uphold the status of being a bad motha-fo? Pride adds to the playing experience, as well as the story-telling the morning after.
In natural selection, without teamwork you will lose 100% of the time. If anyone has a story about single-handedly clearing a hive, you can PM it to me, because after logging 1000 rounds of NS, I have yet to see it happen. There is nothing gratifying about losing, and no incentive to rambo (unless your one of the retards on the {CoFR} servers that rambo for gorges).
In a majority of NS stories I hear from friends, they are usually always alien stories, because saying "<i>I went 23 and 1 as a Lerk when I did blah, blah blah</i>" is a lot more impressive sounding than saying "<i> I killed, like, a hajillion skulks last night, and we sieged blah, blah, blah</i>". I think the current gameplay wont suffer at all, if any, if an all showing scoreboard is shown in at least tourney mode.

There is no fair clear cut solution.
I do believe that the kills being shown does improve the team play, as humans are competitive by nature, and I know damn well I try harder when I see names above me. But on the flipside, we want to encourage teamplay.
And ramboing will always have a place in NS, as some marines are just inherantly better players than others. Example being : I <b>know</b> there are certain regs on my usual server, that I can toss some ammo packs to & some medkits, and as long as they don't have cara yet will happily hold an area until I get around to doing something there. This gives me as comm some breathing space. But I certainly won't send in NSPlayer to do it, because I know he's going to die.
But I might do if I can see he's got a sickening score next round.....
So, I'd vote 'no scores' but I can see the use of having them anyway.

I have had scores in the neighbourhood of 40-10 as a one hived alien, yet I dont consider myself good...
Any player might LOOK good in a game against total n00bs, still, he isnt more than aerage at most...
