[mwip] Overlord Hive

<div class="IPBDescription">quicky</div> a quick 10-15 mins work just putting things together. I removed some details and added others. I dont like the leg thingies much. i just added them for the pic. Anyways what do you think so far? (please keep in mind this is not my work i just carried on from the other overlord)

    Personally, the legs are WAY too thick, they should be thinner.

    The behind needs some detail and attention, but otherwise quite good. The front two legs are too thick, but otherwise the legs are fine. Also, some more attention to the head.

    the legs are way too thick, thats true, but the fore arms are supposed to be big, thats the way it is ingame. oh, add a little trunk thing to the face like it is in the overlord's HUD when you select one.

    I agree that the legs (with the exception of the front claws) should be much thinner and spindly; they should definitely *not* taper as they currently do, but start skinny and stay skinny. Look at an insect's limbs - they don't change width along their length. Go for something like that.

    And the eternal question.... polycount?

    Well, it's 300 above the default - a fair sight better than most of the other SC models. I would suggest trimming polys from the forelegs and head in particular, and you may be able to pull some out of the back as well.

    Note the way the SC unit's legs are aligned when it's floating in place - IIRC, they tend to bend, and finally angle slightly backwards, similar to an insect's. From the side, it might look like this (ph33r teh ascii art!), though not so pronounced:

    ok i see. And yea there are so many polys that can be taken out on this model.. im just not the man for the job since i dont really kno how. The body is like a geo-shpere with a 3 "depth" count. anyways ill fix the legs now.. i've been woprking on chopping up the face and giving him a long shnoze

    lol ollj.. i wuv you. See guys people like ollj rock they help out ppl in need.. such as myself.. constantly lol. Anyway ollj could u just lower this one to the original poly count rather than super low. I mean you did a great job with my other hive but i wanna keep this one relatively medium polied (if thats a word).     e/ is it just me or should the front of the head have some claw things comming out. I just looked at the original file adn he had some on it. hrmm oh well.

    It's very nice to see that my model has gotten to the right person for the job, I know I would never have finished it as good as it is now. Thanks a lot for that. Now I've got just a small thing to add to the process, and that's that the front tentacles are 'claws', so they should be like this:

    One other thing, there really are those tentacle thing on the side of the head. But you can only see them in StarCraft concepts and in-game. I believe SC:Ghost concept doesn't show them, but it's up to you if you want to use them or not.
