Thank god for German High res stuff. I was beginning to get a little worried with the way the other pics looked but now I feel better and had a couple questions answered in the process <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
1: In the first pic I think I see a dead headcrab clipping through the floor, along with various bits of flying wood.
2: The last shot with the ant lions, definitely the dried sea bed, I think that metal hull on the right might be a submarine. Though the background obviously shows land above the original sea level, there's a lighthouse.
Dunno if this has been said but at www.havok.com valve has an unnamed title on the list. Oddly, the bug in the shots looks a LOT like the bug in the second movie.. Third movie (zombies) shows off awesome physics.. Dunno if it was posted, just trying to add to the melee of awesome media on this new killer!

Is it just me, or does it still look like they are useing the same shell model(cept more round) in that first pic? And in the third pic, there aren't ANY shells.
Man, these are fantastic. And look at that curvey hydra tentacle! Mmmm... spikey-watery-deadly-liscious... <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

I've always wanted to do proper outdoors mapping, without any of the silly constraints of your average outdoors engine. From going through more of these pics (nice job, folks), I can say that it's very unlikely there will be true curved surfaces in HL2. I know it's demo code and maps here, but if they were going to have it in the engine, it would be there by now. That being said, who really cares - nearly true curves are good enough, and are paer of the the difference between HL2 proposed specs and Doom3 proposed specs. And as people have pointed out, who can stop and really admire the details of a perfect circle in a game when an AI that no longer needs pathing and scripting, now hunts you down by problem-solving the map, shoves robotic cameras through mail-slots, and kicks down barricades - is after you! I'll wager the processing power that they saved from perfection in map detail will be going towards the AI that makes this game the best of the year. Just my theory...
I will point out that I'm seeing a lot more detailed brushwork in these pics, so I think Doomaniac's fears in a different thread were unwarranted on that angle.
