    Wow. Think of all the Half-Life players who are still playing on a 400 MHz system. They've had no reason to upgrade; Half-Life is all the game they need, and it doesn't need a kickass system to run. And here we are saving up for a GeForce 4 Ti. Not because of Unreal 2, not because of Doom 3, but because of HL2.

    That's impressive.

    Don't bother buying a Geforce 4 Ti, save up for a Geforce 4 Fx. That way, when Doom 3 comes out, you'll be killing 2 birds wit one stone.

    I feel sad too when I kill a barney, but why does it happend? I mean, how can you be so sad? Its only a game.

    Ok, the Girl is ALyx Vance. She's modeled off a real girl, apparently, and they hired an expert on facial expressions to make sure that she looks convincing when she talks.

    Also, lip synching is all pre-rendered. All someone has to do to make their own lip sync is plug a .wav file an, and HL2 does the rest.

    The character's will have roughly 6000 polies per character, and will have EXTREMELY great skelital animation. For example, PCG mentions that when Alyx lifts her pistol, the muscles lift her breats, and curve her back *ever so slightly.* They, of course, talked about her breasts for a paragraph and a half.

    When level designing, the HL@ designers made everything an orange room. They then sent the levls to the texture artists, who created every texture to custom fit the surfaces.

    Every dollar valve made on HL1 went into HL2. All the code that isn't finished for the release date will be put into HL3.

    The physics engine used in HL2 is a modfied version of the Deus Ex 2 engine. You can pick up grates and stuff, cover yoursef with them to deflect bullets, then throw them at turrets and stuff to knock them over.

    EDIT: And oh yeah, lights from teh room will reflect of Alyx's eyes.

    The game will be designed to run on a 3Ghx P IV system, but will scale down to a 600 Mhz with a TNT2. (HELL YEA!)

    I'm so looking forwards to HL2 it sounds to be easier to mod and map for from some of the articles I have read. I can't wait and by the way there is another magazine that was leaked out.     Aye, gun shadows prolly wont be too hard to put in. They have plenty of time to work on the small stuff, tweak it a bit, etc etc. All they have been working on so far is the levels/gameplay/engine/sound, its still rough round the edges.

    But it's strange, as the light stuff and model collision are part of the engine.. and the engine was finished like months ago?
    But maybe the light thingie is because of the muzzle flash.. and its so fast you'll not even notice the crappy light border

    corpses probably don't block living for gameplay reasons.

    Lighting example may be an explosive flash - that image looks like it's been brightened a bit.

    Gun shadows are missing apparently. +( Oh well, at least there are shadows and maybe they'll show up in the final product.

    Engine probably isn't finished. It's likely they'll keep tweaking and bugfixing up until shortly before release.

    I don't know if anyone yet mentioned it but the reason why textures are misaligned in that map with all the orange is because it is a orange map. A map where textures are applied last, that is basicly just a test version of the map. I don't believe anyone yet mentioned how eyes follow people, and playermodels can have 5000 polys.

    Some thing could of been mentioned before I said them, I didn't really get around to reading all these posts.
