Er...what happened to all the cool lookingness? The second pic you posted looks so awesome, and then the pic after that...its so undetailed o_o what'd you do to it? and whats with the bent barrel?!
I think it should a be a lmg. Here is a closer pic of the reference pic he is using. You'll notice that the weapon can use both gauss and canister rounds. It is smaller though, so it would explain why it has fewer rounds than a normal gauss rifle. Anyway, I think that this would make a better shotgun, even has pump action! Just remove the top barrel and it would be perfect. But what will be the gl? A normal, long C-20 canister rifle like it is shown in Starcraft? And I think we all know what mines will be .
wow good model but i think it would be better if that was a GL cause it looks like more of a gl and just make the other sc gun the lmg that one that the marines use in the real game

when you've finished texture mapping, could you post the maps here? I have a friend who's interested in skinning this

Unfortunately, skinning it may take a while as I've found that (a) my first skinmesh sucked, and (b) the version of photoshop that's on this computer isn't as good as the one I'm used to, so I might just wait til I get home (start of May) to skin it. I think I could also do with adding some more surface details since I have 200 polygons to spare.
I suppose I could farm the skin out for someone else to do, but I'd much prefer to do everything myself.
There is no need to just add polys because your able to. Sure alot of details looks nice and all, but it makes the lower end people run slightly(almost unseen, but still) better. Just a suggestion, it is your model after all.
Well, it's just that the gun looks kind of flat and boring in a couple of places. And with my Celeron 400 I'm one of those low-end users, so I'm not about to be making any models that'll kill slow computers.

I think the best way to do it is to try to have no more polys than whatever it is you're trying to replace. For instance, the skulk model is 986 polys, so if you're making a replacement, try not to go over 1000.

Okay, I said progress was going to be slow, but I've made a start on skinning it. However, when I did a quick test compile earlier I noticed my hitboxes had gone crazy. Any suggestions about how to fix them?
Sn00py: Absolutely nothing, come to think of it. I guess I'll get by.

98 isn't old
Windows 98 is about 5 years old. Still a nice OS though =D
Jamil: Nope - all done with .m3d and .smd files.
I think I may replace the clip with a shell-insertion thingy, so it can be used for a shotty. Chances are I'll do it both ways.
(edit: I'm starting to feel like I can't get away with leaving the trigger out. Ho-hum)
Progress:
