Yes Ill have to agree with both of you. It's a fundamental design of NS that makes anything cheese. I deem cheesy when your choice of strategy is nigh-on impossible to counter by the foe. If you play for fun, that doesn't make a lot of sense to use does it? I mean fun for the whole play group, not just your personal pleasure.

The biggest problem as I see it is that aliens are almost always only in position to PREVENT the marines from pursuing a certain strategy. Be it JP HMG, HA, hive lock down etc. I am sorry to hear about Warcraft III having devolved into a few kind of strategies only. I used to play Starcraft and loved it for it's many different methods you could win a game by. There was not a strategy that I didn't figure out how to counter sooner or later. (the 6 pool zergling rush caused me quite a headache, as well as the terran scv rush). I found out how to deal with reaver drops, mutalisk rushes etc. It was interesting indeed.

I wish they actually DO figure out to revamp some of the fundamental mechanics for 1.1. It would be nice if Kharaa could pursue 1 strategy while marines pursued another, and somewhere down the line one of the sides realizes they bet wrong. For now all that kharaa actively can do is to overrun the marines in their base in order to prevent them from tech rushing.
