Known problems...
Hi All,
Flayra has released v1.04 of the server.
We are aware of one particular issue that we have not solved in this version.
Using Adminmod on a RedHat Linux server 7.3 or 8.0 (possibly Mandrake 9.0 as well - unconfirmed) is broken and will cause the server to crash as soon as a player joins.
It's not 100% clear why this is happening (we suspect that it's to do with incompatibilities with the standard c++ libraries released on RH) and we have been working around the clock to narrow it down.
Suffice it to say, we realise that Adminmod is an important admin tool and we will continue to work to resolve the issue so that those of you using this particular setup can run your servers as you like them.
For the moment however, it is not possible to run Adminmod on RH 7.3 or 8.0 servers. You will either have to run without, or use an alternative such as ClanMod or AMX/MetaSmall
Please bear with us if you have this problem, we will fix it as soon as possible.
Regards
joev.

Was 16 player. full at map start 75-80% cpu useage
Now at 18 player. Full at map start 50-60% cpu usage.
I'm attaching my adminmod/dlls folder...
Hope these help some people out, just copy these files to you adminmod/dlls folder and give it a try.
Can't attach, so I'm just going to link: http://www.darkdream.org/am-dlls.tar.gz

great! I was going to do this as a fix tomorrow.
But we'll figure out a more final solution to this anyway.
For now.. it works, use it

thank you!!!
RH8, 1.04...lots of other mods...works great thanks!!
I has a known vulnerability... if some nice soul would compile 2.50.51 (the fix) then that would be better to use.

thnx, your awsome bro
I must say, I'm surprised to hear this.
Since most people seem to be seeing improvements in CPU performance, you are in the minority.
If, instead of just coming on here and insulting the hard working people who spend long days (and nights) working on this mod (for free), you actually gave us some data we may be able to help figure out why you're not seeing any meaningful improvements.
If you could post
CPU/RAM/HDD configuration
Linux Distribution
Version of libc and libstdc++
Any other bits you have installed (like metamod etc)
Then we can have a look and see if we can figure out why you're not getting any performance boost.
Also, I suggest, if you haven't tried it already, a clean install of HLDS and a clean install of NS server followed by the 1.04 patch. See what happens then.
joev.
We need more data m8.
CPU/RAM/HDD config
Linux Distro
library versions (libc, libstdc++ etc)
Any other stuff you've installed (e.g. metamod etc)

joev.
Linxu distro: RH 7.3
Adminmod
CPU: 2Ghz
Ram: 1Gb
HD: Unknown (Can't remember, but will find out)
Libs: Unknown. Will find out.
Notice no one else is using ping as a standard for SERVER performance. CPU usage is what you should be looking at. I'll highlight the main points.
Things that affect ping:
o Time of day
o Server Speed
o Server Connection Speed and Bandwidth
o Client Connection Speed and Bandwidth
o Weather (for those on analog modems)
o Client Rate Settings
o Client Computer (if the client's computer is slow)
o and much much more...
Things that affect CPU usage:
o Server OS
o Server CPU
o Server RAM
Am I Missing Something? I could be, but it's probably minor.
Keep as many variables out of it as you can...especially clients when you're talking about the server.
THEREFORE, what you need to do is give the following information:
o Server OS
o Server CPU
o Server RAM
o CPU Usage
don't look at pings...look at CPU usage.

as i said....lots of trouble....
I'll have to find out what the CPU usage is on ns_nothing so we can compare notes. When I find that out I'll edit this post and append it to the end.
Not true.
RH8.0
Dual AMD 2100+ cpus
1 gig DDR reg
1.03 server
---------------
maxplayers of 17 (16 open 1 reserved slot)
Constant 75-85% cpu0 useage.
With spikes to 93% after long rounds on hera, bast etc.
1.04 server
---------------
Maxplayers 18 (16 open, hltv, 1 reserved slot)
50-65% cpu0 useage.
With spikes to 75% after long rounds on hera, bast etc.
I've found that the patch helps with your current level of players. Adding 2 or more working player slots will just bring you back to the same useage you had with 1.03. So the patch will not allow you to really increase your maxplayers. 18 slots on a 2 gig is the max I can seem to run. With 20, hera etc (non stripped verion) Gives pings in the 200+ range.
