Major Lag Problems (lag On My Own Server?)

My questions relate to the noticable lag i'm getting while playing on my own server. I've recently been hosting an NS server online, and I am getting lag when i join my own dedicated server? Plus when i ping it over All Seeing Eye, out of all the servers i ping, my own has the most spikes and PL. Also sometimes when i change maps from one map to the next, everyone's ping spikes to 1000 for about 1 minute before cooling off. What is the deeeeeallllll? I'm on a 10mbit LAN connection and have a P4-2.4 Ghz w/ 512mb PC800 ram... any thots???

    Is your dedicated server on the same pc while playing ns? If so then the only way i managed to fix it was to have windows xp and put hlds at high priority. I could then play on my own server etc.

    If you are hosting it behind a router with Private IP addresses (192.168.*.*, 10.*.*.*) and you are on the same private network then you should use the private IP when you join. If you are outside you'd use the public IP. That's the only thing I can really think of at the moment.

    Heheheh, yeeeeeeep i did slay the alien side, but i never touched the marine side. I'm not mean =P. You guys sat around doing nothing for 20 minutes while we waited for you to kill our only hive =D. It's coo. I dunno if other people are having LAG problems like i am. Yes i am running my dedicated on the same machine as i'm trying to join. I spoke to a few guys today in my server. They mentioned how halflife wasn't written to handle both a client and a server side simultaneously? Hence you get a lot of packet collisions and whatnot. It's reeeeeeeally gimp cause i get 30 pings in my own server. HL is the only game that has give me these problems really. Good ol' Quake was a sharpshooter in its day =D. By the way the server is up and running again.

    Side ?:

    Anyone know if centersay works in NS? cause i can't figure it out. Maybe someone can tip me off on <i>exact</i> instructions on how to use it...
