im not tuning anything..just wanted to show what i mean.. other ppls doodle somethin like that on paper..i do 2 minute 3dsmax quickies
Got a progress report on the M.A.L.I.C.E. weapon V_models. Sure, it won't look right in-game, picking up entirely different weapons, but that's fine.
First, the LMG. Those are the barrels from the black minigun I posted a pic of in an other thread. The ReadMe that comes with it lists "SOLD~SNAKE" as the author. The model appears to be the same as the other minigun that floated around here briefly a while back, with a brownish skin. Maybe the ReadMe that comes with that one is more detailed.
Through the little port where you see the bullets go by, above where the chain enters the receiver, is actually a cylinder with a bullet texture. When the cylinder spins, it looks like bullets are being fed in to the firing chamber.
I might be able to animate these things myself, but I'm not sure.
The knife, pistol and mines would be held in the left hand. All the reloading sequences would drop below the player's view for simplicity. That is, if I did the animating. I'm open for offers. For the LMG and HMG reloads, the ammo chain would probably pop out of the receiver and hang as the arm lowers out of sight. For my own sake, I would make the hand model reflect what I play with in the cockpit of the MALICE [probably either the ape suit or colonial marine], but somebody would be able to change that as they please.
I'll be adding the cage and the interface thing that Sheena showed in her dummy pic just because I like it that way, despite the interface being stretched all out of clarity [it's taken from the MALICE player model, so the skin is small].
HMG. I figured, since the HMG just does twice as much damage as the LMG, it may as well have twice as many barrels, as though it's firing two bullets instead of one. A larger ammo repository would probably look better... I'll look at my options in that respect later.

Yeah, the AvP2 team went really far in removing as many polies as they could from the V_models, to keep the game's poly-count really low. You won't notice them missing in-game, though.
the only one of those i think looks reasonable is the hmg one, the other seem somewhat... out of place. original models maybe?? regurgitating avp2 models is getting beyond a joke.
I'm glad you like it, Daph. In the process of finding the perfect on-screen position for them and hoping someone will fix up the interface texture. Once it's positioned, I can start working on animations... Oh, joy.
