It does seem like a crazy reason to ban such things on the surface, yes... Considering the whole arms race thing is exactly to have an unfair advantage over other nations. However, if it were -just- about having an advantage, those tank-buster sniper rifles would be used against people, and there'd be much bigger rifles than that, too. I'm not sure what my stance is on allowing such things under military circumstances, but I'm deffinitely against it in the civilian populations. Hell, any Joe could go out, slap down a few bucks and be a pretty darned good shot without having to spend any time at the range. That also facilitate the arming of dishonest people, which I'm not hot on. Then again, all the gun-control laws make it harder for honest people who just have an honest liking for shooting inanimate objects [though I honestly don't see the attraction, myself].

But to the problem at hand, what he is trying to do (make the laser beam thingy like in AHL/TS)...it's server side mod for the tracking laser part...the sprite is simple...just get a nice 128x128 (I think) red dot site from the Firearms forum and someone here could convert it.
A real lasersight doesn't leave a trail unless there is vapor, smoke, or some other semi-transparent obstacle in the way. They don't have to specially make one that doesn't have a trail. Recently green light lasers and Infra-red lasers have been put to use. Since the eye sees green better, the green laser seems brighter, even though it's not. The infra-red variety is invisible to the naked eye. Only the infra-red version is illegal, some states allow the purchase of the other kinds, and law enforcement is always allowed to buy them (except for infra-red).
I personally would like to see lasers in the form that the specialists has. If you understand. Though a bit buggy when you reload, it looks nice. And since it is more of a client side thingy than a server side thing, I think it's possible to do.
