lol!
I absolutely loved this game on the Xbox, I would highly suggest at least checking it out here.
The control is **MUCH** better on the PC than it was on X-Box. AI seems a bit dumbed down for the sake of gameplay too, which is good since the X-Box Splinter Cell AI was just insane. Only gripe is that it does look a little bit better (somehow) on X-Box than it does on my GF4 in highest detail w/ 1024x768 resolution...
And what would that be?
Ill get this later...
Last I checked (22:00, -05:00GMT) the wait in line was ~1 hour.
So I got it from FileShack by waiting half the time in line. It's a pity FilePlanet hasn't learned to shape up, FileShack has been getting better and better recently...
Dunno if it's a good game, but on DSL and from the FileShack Washington, DC server I'm getting 137KB/second, and waited 29 minutes in line. (This is happening at 22:38, -05:00GMT)

Although I havn't actually seen the game, this is probably because some games actually look MORE detailed on a TV resolution than on a PC. I figure this is because the detail is vague on a TV screen and so your brain fills in a lot of the missing stuff. When viewed on a PC, everything is crisp-clean, and you can see everything you couldn't before...and find it rather lacking.
This ties in with my other theory that games are getting too needlessly detailed, because if there is a vagueness to the detail of a game then the brain fills in everything else. Remember how great Quake felt? Since 3Dfx was put into Quake, it's looked a lot blander (because its so crisp clean).
Queue debate I guess - are games becoming too detailed? Or am I just a nostalgia freak?

I got that too. I open your splintercell.ini, and under the D3D section, change all the Fullscreen references to "False", save, and start the game.
Then open up another window, like a folder, so you can alt-tab out, then right click on the game in the start menu and click fullscreen, so the game maximizes.
Enjoy
I Loved the gameplay, I think this game is the closest thing to an updated Theif I've seen in a long time.
It even has a visibility gem of sorts
Seriously, a nice game, but the demo was somewhat short.

I got the exact same thing. It mentioned my D3D, so I opened up by DXDiag and turned D3D off, then back on, then it worked...
I'm going to try that way Legionnaired mentioned too, but my old crappy computer can barely run it
EDIT: DUDE, You can set graphics stuff in there! SWEET

Agreed. They said that was about .5 percent of the game.
So, by that logic, the game will take me 2000 minutes to complete... or about 33.3 play hours....
Lets see, average 2.5 hours of after school gaming, plus 6 hours of gaming on the weekend...
Ahh hell, the game's only going to last me a week and a half..... Great.
I'll debate picking this up. Maybe I'll play it on Hard.
OH BTW, if you look on your mission objectives thing, you can see 2-3 objectives that have already been completed by the time we pick up.
So yeah, I think I'll shell out for it.
edgy graphics
choppy frames
horrible control
not that it isnt my type of game, though. I loved Hitman 2 but this one is just a piece of crap

The control is great, and the graphics suck ebcause youe computer sucks. Try running it in 1280x1024, and cranking the detail.
Mmmmmmmm.

Ditch the 486 man. They've made some cool stuff in recent years.

a pentium 3, 866 mhz, Gforce 3, 384 mb RAM, and SbLive! is THAT old?
and my res only goes up to 1024X768, my monitor wont go any higher

NOLF2 was freakishly addicting (hooray). Though, I could use another Clancy game, I got attached to Ghost Recon for awhile because of the online co-op missions. Always played them on hard and nothing but, good times, great games, friendly fire was a pain. All I played, co-op, hardest and friendly fire... nostalgia attack!
"That means you didn't kick their butts hard enough!"
Or Armstrong, my favorite character in NOLF

It's not that your 866mhz, GeForce3, 384megs of RAM, and SBLive! is that old. It's that UBSoft recommended better from the start when they had you read the Readme file on installing the demo.
From the readme:

Looking at that, we see your CPU barely meets min requirements, and the rest of your hardware is moderately above recommended (depending on what model GeForce3 you have).
Personally, I'm on a machine that breaks all recommended requirements but has a 64meg GeForce2, and I liked the demo just fine playing at 640x480 with 2x antialiasing. I will agree it was too short, though.
I'm gonna try switching volumetric lighting on.
OH, and If you want a challenge, try going to ..\Save\Sam\config.ini, and changing the Difficulty from 0 to 1.
There is no significant changes, but the enemies seem to have slightly hightened senses.
If you wanna get really skilled, Try doing the demo lythian style:
Don't alert anyone, which means getting no-one to draw their weapons.
Only knock out the guard in the Surveilance booth, he's the only guy you actually NEED to take out.
