Whenever I remove the battery from the Habitat builder most of the controls dont work anymore. I can move forward, backward and to the sides but none of the other controls work. Not even the options button. And closing the game out with the PS button and relaunching it doesnt help.

The fix for lockers is to close the (invisible) locker menu you have open, if I recall right. So, pretend you have the Hab Builder menu open when this happens, and close it (what is that, Escape? Right-click? Left-click? I can't remember). Might also try Mousewheel to switch tools?
Well, the first time this happened to me I had about an hour to an hour and a half of unsaved progress in the game.. so I tried -literally- clicking every button, and/or, any possible combination of buttons that could come to mind. No luck. I had to just end the task and lose all the progress. And I think you might be just right. Because as soon as I pull the R menu to change battery, the builder menu pops up for like a split second and then pops back off aaaaaaaaand wild bug appears. After that, nothing you can do. I finally was able to change my battery right now while trying again but ...got bugged again. Can't rotate camera, can't save. Can't interact with nothing in the game... can't do anything. All I can do is move forward/backwards and sideways. Bugged as hell lol. Surely tho, I appreciate the info it might come in handy either way

That's what I tried to do.
After I finally found what caused the bug -- I mean-- as soon as I logged back in I tried to go back to the same moment before I got bugged and saved the game, and then I started fooling around with all my batteries... and the bug came about when I tried to swap the batteries of my Habitat Builder (had like 23% charge) to a full battery and each time I tried I got bugged - and trust me.. I tried this like 10 times with no luck. I specifically tried 1) just taking the battery off, and 2) swapping the batteries.. Finally realized that the problem came from me trying to access the battery menu (R) period, IF the habitat builder HAS some battery charge left, even 1%. Finally, I was able to change my battery when the battery charge reached 0%, and since I didn't get the building menu popping on and off (because it didn't have any power to do so), I didn't get bugged. So, as of right now, all I do now is just try to not mess with the battery of the Habitat Builder anymore until it reaches 0% charge. And that is my current solution. Not the most optimal, but at least made it work without having to rebuild the habitat builder every time it runs out of battery.
