Game immediately crashing to desktop solved by 'optional' AMD driver update to 18.9.2

Relevant crash log line was "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" I believe.
Anyways, both Stable and Experimental now working after doing the optional driver update. I didn't get a prompt for that update, you have to manually look for it, and then choose the optional update in Radeon / AMD Settings (or from their website, I imagine).
