Specimens in alien containment glitch out of module. Cuddlefish can be glitched through walls of base by interacting with them from inside. What you get is a flying squid fish.
Yeah, Alien Containment is all sorts of messed up right now. This is like the third thread about this problem I've seen so far. Granted, I created one of those 3, but still, this is clearly an issue that multiple people are having.
I just got the xbox one version and i have noticed that. I will try an aquarium instead. I know it holds less but im tired of going out and coming back to have flying fish everywhere
Released one ampeel near my base and now its stuck INSIDE my generator room, any way to fix this with commands? Can't deconstruct the room while it's still inside and its getting really annoying/frustrating.
Try this. Deconstruct the generator (put it elsewhere if needed). Build an alien containment but wait until the fish is totally in the area of the containment before finishing building it. Add a hatch, grab your fish.
Didn't work, barely managed to build it since the eel is so large the containment had very low chance of turning green, after I did the animal got stuck outside no matter if it was finished or not. I don't want to start over (40+ hours) but I don't want a fucking ampeel in my base either, want to play but not like this.
Using the propulsion cannon you can drag your released cuddle fish inside your base. Once released above the water level of the moonpool it keeps swimming around in mid air through your base. This allows you to interact with your cuddle fish just like in normal water while keeping it safe in your base.
I played with this bug a little bit and figured that it still escapes the base at some point through the moon pool (or rarely glitches through the hull of your base). If that happens it seems to be able to glitch through normal walls as well. It ran off through a wall and never returned Using the bulkhead to put a door between the normal rooms and the moonpool you should be able to keep the cuddle fish in your base with no escape route.
Sadly there is no way to call it back. Might be a function the devs should include somehow. Keybinding which makes the character call for the cuddle fish so it comes to you no matter where it was. Make it spawn arround a corner and let it swim towards you.
