Can't build a base.

I've never had any problems in this game and ever since I went from the bleeding edge back to stable (new game), I'm having all kinds of problems. Items are disappearing out of my floating boxes (I read this is a bug I guess currently), and my pod drifts all over.

I decided to build a base to get some stable storage and a fabricator I can find but I can't actually build anything. Nothing seems to snap like it used to it just free floats. I can't get anything closer than 1 or 2 people lengths from the ground it just stops moving like it's already on the ground. The only way I can actually build on the ground is if I build on a platform that's above my head (i.e. swim lower down), but then it's uneven and looks like crap.

I feel like I must have hit some mode or clicked something wrong or forgotten a button because I never had this much trouble with it before.

Might want to just start a fresh save, or go back to experimental, if that's the case. Well. You could try clearing your cache, and see if that straightens it up, but I really, really doubt it, as you're saying the building mechanics are messed up.

Have other bases worked, after removal of terraforming?
