New Terrain?

So, because the game said my one save was outdated (RIP THAT GAME! I had my cyclops and everything... not too great a loss, though), I started a new one and I expected to be in a different area than my lifepod was in my first save and, yes, it was in a new spot.

I just wasn't expecting it to be in a NEW AREA!

What happened to the original map? I searched the area around my lifepod to see if I could find the spot my lifepod was in my first save (pre-precursor/coffee update) but I couldn't find jack-all!

Did this new update make it so most of the area around the shallows is new and not the same with each new game? Or is the area I'm in just possibly a newer one that I don't know my way around it?

LP5 has random spawn points in the safe shallows. Rest assured, if you look long enough, you'll find the spot where you began in your previous save (unless they made a small change to the Safe Shallows and that spot is different, but, as far as I know, nothing in the Safe Shallows has changed).
