Grappling Torpedo

I know devs are pretty anti-weaponry, in general, but I had a random idea in the Discord I thought might be worth modding if modding ever becomes a thing.
The concept is a torpedo using the technology of the propulsion cannon, or the gravity sphere: coherent beams of pull-force (stronger than propulsion/gravsphere, capable of moving, say, a crabsquid) slither out of the torpedo and snag anything near it as it travels, and it just pulls them with it, safely removing them from the player. Functionally it'd be a bit more useful than the vortex torpedo for dealing with small groups of enemies, and it'd be a bit more predictable in its execution than what the vortex torpedo does currently. That's it really.
Like I said, devs are anti-weaponry. This one would be more of an imprisonment/removal mechanic, rather than a violent solution, so I thought it fit the theme.
Consequently, I've heard devs state very plainly that they're done adding new features, because they have a timetable to meet. I'd be interested in doing this as a mod, if modding ever became a thing; primarily because the functions for "grabbing stuff" are already a concept in the game, and perhaps code reuse is a possibility (for me, as a coder). This is a very big if.
