Upgrading Tools Replaces Ion Battery with a Regular Battery

Upgrading my propulsion cannon to a repulsion cannon at the modification station replaced its ion battery with a regular one.

Thanks for reporting this, but that gives me an idea: If you put a cannon in with no battery, do you get a free one? What about a discharged (low %) battery, do you get a charged one?

Just tested this. A empty Propulsion Cannon yields a loaded 100% Repulsion Cannon. It seems the game does not check at all, it just replaces one item with another.

Heh, you should be o experimental, currently trying to replace an empty battery/cell somtimes just eats the full one. You have to demount the cell and then put the new one in. Still fixed bulkheads is worth it p.
