Actually I rather liked the minimal damage. Think about it... Each and every lifepod lost one seat, due to a single attack that ripped it out of the wall. They weren't thrashed about by mindless monsters, they were hit by surgically-precise strikes aiming for them.
Now, I can see them wanting to mix it up slightly. Maybe a damaged lifepod that's lost the Medkit-side seat instead of the Fabricator-side seat, or maybe one that's lost BOTH seats.
Yeah, I dont mean HUGE updates, just different damage spots, all the lifepods are the same, and I think it would be cool if the damage points were in a few different spots!
In general it is a good idea, but now there are more important things that developers should spend the time and resources. Perhaps, if there are specific proposals, sketches or models, developers will turn their attention to this.
Damage variations would make perfect sense, since they got destroyed in different ways, according to PDA downloads. Have you checked the new lifepod 4 PDA, btw?
