Stopped playing for the day as I was getting a little frustrated (well, more than a little :D )

I had a look about on the various Trello boards belonging to the SN devs but couldn't see any mention of the large amount of crashes experienced since the Precursor stable update. Noes! The devs are looking into this, aren't they? :'(

The game has been having issues since 40062 IIRC, and terraforming has been talked of being removed since around then, I think, if not before. Also, the terrain streaming code is slated to be tweaked sometime, which should, I think get rid of wreck duplication, which probably exacerbates the crashing issues.

Ok thanks. I just wish the devs would work on these issues rather than ignoring them in favour of adding more content. Well, I say "ignoring", I'm sure they're not as I know they do work hard. But sometimes it just seems as if they are favouring new content over fixing issues. But then again it is alpha pre-release. :)

The new content is mostly in the modeling, animating, and scripting department, yes? Terraforming removal probably isn't. Therefore both can be worked on concurrently without slowing each other down. At least, that's the idea I get.

Going to try a drop of experimental

Hmm, no crashes so far in experimental. Still experiencing some lag in heavy graphic areas (mushroom forest) but not nearly so bad as with the stable version.

You could try doing a cache clear to be sure any issues that 42313 has aren't being carried over. (Unsure if that will help at all, but I always do a cache clear even when an experimental update hits that's over ~50MB in size.)

I note that you recommend deleting the CellsCache & Compiled0ctreesCache folders which hold the batch objects and bake batch objects files ("clearing the cache").

However. I also notice that there are a bunch of batch object files in the Savedgames\slot0000 outside of the two aforementioned folders. Should those files be deleted too?

Yes and no. According to @LumpN they are legacy and no longer used. Therefore, they don't need clearing. However, that also means they do nothing and can be cleared out. I always clear them. Just be sure not to erase your 4 main save game files - easiest way to do this would be to hold shift, right-click slot0000, press "open PowerShell window here", type cmd to enter the traditional command prompt, and press enter, then type del *.txt and press enter. Type exit and press enter x2 to exit.
