I stepped away from Subnautica for quite some time but recently started playing again after I saw that it had received several updates. Anyway, I noticed that the game seemed to have more frequent and more severe framerate problems in certain locations and certain circumstances. In this case, I had approached Lifepod 3 from the West and hadn't encountered any significant problems.
When I tried to travel AWAY from Lifepod 3 to the East or South however, the game would always crash after moving a certain distance away. When traveling to the East, I was able to get close enough to the mountain range island to visualize it before the game crashed. When traveling South, I got a little bit inside the edge of the Safe Shallows biome before the game crashed.
The crashes usually occurred in conjunction with a sudden severe framerate drop during which the game would appear or almost appear frozen. I attempted traveling to the East and South both with and without vehicles (Seamoth and Seaglide used), both at max speed and in small, slow increments, and the game continued to crash in similar locations. On a couple occasions, I stopped moving when I noticed a decrease in framerate to wait for the game to finish loading, but saw the game crash anyway a few seconds after the framerate appeared to return to normal.
I found that I was able to safely move away from Lifepod 3 by traveling back to the West with no more than the usual momentary framerate dips when traveling at speed and transitioning between biomes.
I recall seeing a post by another user that had extensively tested for framerate drops and crashes encountered along numerous paths between points throughout the Southwestern portion of Subnautica's world map, and I wonder if this problem isn't related. Anyway, I've included multiple crash logs generated when I attempted to move away from Lifepod 3 to the South and East under different conditions. Hope this helps.

I tried drowning myself to get back to my base but I respawned in my lifepod instead and the game froze immediately.
When that happens it gets quite frustrating trying to disrupt that sort of ''death loop''. Whats most weird is that i'll start another game and that specific place on the map that made me crash constantly does not do that in another save ....... oh well lol
Way To Fix: Abandon that save file, it's unfixable.
Not really, you just need to clear your cache, as that will reset your environment, while preserving your progress, inventory, and built items.
